Isn't Clawson going to be one of the highest paid MAC coaches this year?

The fact is, there is no difference between $200,000 and $500,000 for coaches in this league. If there is a coach a Big10 or Big12 school wants, they are going to pay him 4-5 times what BG or any MAC school for that matter gives him.

The most you can hope for is that someone, like Clawson builds the program into a consistent winner while making $500,000-$800,000 a year for 5-8 years while he waits for his dream job.

Urban Meyer is right...in 2000/2001 this was a bad job. You had a weight room many HS would laugh at, a crumbling stadium with an ancient scoreboard and no lights, office space that wouldn't allow two people to walk down the hallway together, an average attendance in the low four figures (don't care what the box scores say...in 2000 we were drawing about 5,000 per week max), the team wasn't using the max 85 schollies on players and the job didn't pay dick. You might just as well as rebranded the whole operation as "Shithole State".

The point he was making was that in spite of all that...that was the kind of job he deserved. If anything, he was trashing himself as much as us.

Today...thanks to the efforts of Meyer, Brandon, Krebs, Dave Clawson and yes GREG CHRISTOPHER...this is a decent place to coach. Better pay, better facilities (with improvements on the way) and a full complement of scholarships.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
