Agreed. Call me a cockeyed optimist, but I think this will actually help us in the long run. We were not going to get an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament even before the loss yesterday -- sorry to break the news to you, but it's true -- so we just need to be ready to compete every time out, & playing our best basketball in March (as Curt Miller used to say). This game hopefully shows our players that we can't win simply by showing up, no matter who we are playing. We have to be the hardest-working team on the floor every time we take the floor.commonsense wrote:Bad loss for sure. However, the team has had a solid start to the season. This doesn't hurt anything in terms of competing in the MAC. ...

The worst thing about it is the entire game had a feel of last years team.

Grand Valley State has a great football tradition (and Ferris State had a great football season, as did Ohio Dominican), but the GLIAC is a long, long way from the MAC in football. I suspect that if Grand Valley or another GLIAC football program wanted to move up, they would probably first try to work their way into the Missouri Valley Football Conference.sbkbghockey wrote:In fact, if the MAC ever eyes expansion, it should look to the GLIAC for schools such as Ferris or Grand Valley State.
The Missouri Valley is one of the places the MAC would probably look if it was considering expansion. But I'll tell you, I would hate to see us add Youngstown State or another program in Michigan or Ohio.
Anyway. As for basketball: Ferris State might be a great Division II team, but they are still Division II. I can't think of a more humiliating loss in any sport.
