Non-conference schedule news?
Re: Non-conference schedule news?
Sweet, Alico Arena is about an hour from our place in FL. Hope I can make that tourney before heading "home" for the holiday.

Now that's the kind of game I believe Bill Frack had in mind. Thank You Mr. Frack.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
Re: Non-conference schedule news?
Massive get for BG basketball. I wonder if this is tied to a larger scheduling agreement between the 2 schools. The UC women visited the Stroh last year, men's soccer plays them in an exhibition this year. Maybe a football game can come out of it.FalconTurf wrote:Now that's the kind of game I believe Bill Frack had in mind. Thank You Mr. Frack.

I forgot about that game. Had to go back and look it up. We beat UC last year (pre-ACL epidemic) 66-55. Erica Donovan led the way with 17. Hoekstrah came off the bench for 25 minutes and scored 15 points.Falcon137 wrote: The UC women visited the Stroh last year,
One of the refs was a former WWE rassler (Linda Miles).

Re: Non-conference schedule news?
Nice! UC will be tough, they return all 5 starters. Wish we had Holmes for one more year. We did beat UC several years ago under Orr. Didn't Chris Knight hit the game-winner? Pretty sure it was a very close game and we hit a shot late to win it.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:BG is HOSTING Cincinnati on November 18th

Re: Non-conference schedule news?
We played Cincinnati in a home-and-home in the mid-1990's when I was in school and BG won both times and blew UC out bad on the road. I believe BG is 4-0 vs UC in football.Falcon137 wrote:Massive get for BG basketball. I wonder if this is tied to a larger scheduling agreement between the 2 schools. I remember that weekend very well. BG went 2-1 at UC's tournament and I think Knight was named to the all-tournament team & then was named MAC Player of the Week. Here's the link to the game story from that win at UC ("A Good Knight for BGSU")BGSU33 wrote:Nice! UC will be tough, they return all 5 starters. Wish we had Holmes for one more year. Yes. The Falcons last football game against the Bearcats was a 38-0 demolition as part of that almost-magical 1994 season.BGSU33 wrote:We played Cincinnati in a home-and-home in the mid-1990's when I was in school and BG won both times and blew UC out bad on the road. From UC side-Falcon137 wrote:Massive get for BG basketball. I wonder if this is tied to a larger scheduling agreement between the 2 schools. The Bearcats have a lot of respect for the MAC teams and I know there has been some effort to work together with Ohio state schools from our new(ish) administration. Obviously, they have held firm on keeping the home and home every season with Miami even when UC got in the BE for a while and Miami fell off the map in football.
It's not just for good will though. The Bearcats definitely have something to gain here. We have been working pretty hard to decrease the number of horrible RPI teams. Doing that while in conference limbo is proving financially difficult because playing a team in the 100-180 RPI range costs SO much more than just paying a 280th RPI team to come lose. In addition, UC's overall SOS has been hurt by the conference change. As a result, they're looking to get those mid-tier teams on their schedule without paying huge dollars for just a buy game. That is why you see UC playing in some neutral site games and looking for things like this vs BG. There is also a theory that playing in tough environments in a variety of gyms will make the team more tournament ready which has been the big thorn in the side of UC basketball for 20 years.
Last thing, I'm responding to a post that references a football game. I think it can definitely happen and I even think UC would be open to a game in BG, but UC is looking pretty far out already. We would probably be talking like 2021 in Cincy and 2024 in BG or something like that. I know we are desperately looking for a 2017 home game still, but from my 5 minutes of research it looks like BG already has 2 road games scheduled.

Re: Non-conference schedule news?
Would love to play Cincy in football again...been 20+ years now. They play Miami every year and other MAC schools but for some reason we haven't been able to get them back on the field. 4-0 lifetime against them...maybe that has something to do with it.
Great thing to get the UC hoops team at the Stroh.

Re: Non-conference schedule news?
BG football is hosting Toledo (11/17) and BG basketball is hosting Cincy (11/18) in back-to-back days during the mid-week. Now that's an exciting doubleheader (of sorts) of MACtion!
GO BG!!!
Re: Non-conference schedule news?
Any word when tickets for the game Vs Cincinnati will be going on sale?
