Re: Cincinnati
Even with the refs giving Cincy a HUGE advantage on free throws!
Re: Cincinnati
I've been loving this team this far but to go out and complete the comeback then put up 19 pts in OT without Turner? That's huge. Obviously we need to get Juice healthy again but this group can play... Cincy is almost certainly a tourney team
WKU might very well be a tourney team as well.
And outside of one strange stretch they played right with LSU as well...a definite tourney team.
Great start to the season!

Re: Cincinnati
Woo Hoo 91-84 BG wins in OT on Frye's 28 and Plowden's 18 points!
Fitting since the Women lost by 5 in OT.

Re: Cincinnati
They asked for people to step up. And every time they asked they did it.
2 bigs fouled out so Swingle popped in and played good D and scored a bit
Diggs put up 10 including the 3 to tie it.
Laster player a ton and his aggressive style pushed everything.
Frye put up 28 pts, 9 boards and 6 assists
Plowden put up 18
Laster had 10 rebounds
Mattos scored 6 pts but was a presence in the paint

Re: Cincinnati
With 3:49 in regulation Cincy hit a pair of free throws to go back up by 10.
For the next 8:49 BG outscored Cincy 34-17
Yeah...34 points in under 9 mins without our star... Mad props guys

Re: Cincinnati
That wasn't the refs. Huger went "Hack-a-Shaq" on their worst FT shooter with 4 minutes left and it worked.Diemilkweed wrote:Even with the refs giving Cincy a HUGE advantage on free throws!
What a gutsy effort. Our guys defended our tails off all game!
LONG LIVE THE MONGOOSE!!
Re: Cincinnati
Loved the strategy, fouling down the stretch. It worked brilliantly.
This is a massive win for our program. Let's try to go win a championship tomorrow night!

No more sneaking up on teams. This is a signature win. Men’s Hoops are back in BG.

Re: Cincinnati
They were outshooting on FT's us 27 - 11 about 3 minutes into the 2nd half. I was still watching through that point. The phantom fouls on us and blatant fouls on them not getting called were ridiculous.
I know we don't know each other so you have no reason to believe this, but I am not the guy who always believes his team can do no wrong and the refs are always out to get them. I'm just not. But DAMN were these refs significantly biased tonight.
The refs very much handed Cincy every foul call they felt like.
Now, down the stretch, ok maybe we were fouling intentionally. Certainly on McNeal (I htink his name was - the guy who kept missing them for us). there was a massive disparity before then.

Todd Walker seemed to agree with you.

Re: Cincinnati
Is there any word on how injured Turner is? I can't imagine this team doing much over a longer period of time without him. Tonight was fantastic, and I hope it continues...but we need Turner back and healthy.

+6 in turnovers and +3 in rebounds is impressive playing Cincinnati. You'll win a lot of games if you win those 2 categories

If it's a hammie I think it's just rest. No Turner for 2 or 3 weeks might be a great thing for this team. It will force people to have to step up, just like tonight.Falconwriter wrote:Is there any word on how injured Turner is?
