BG seems resigned to trying to get it back with 3 ptrs, and Samarco and Wright have missed the last three... 59-50, it's opening up. Ugh.

EDIT:
Or, we could have an assist by Floyd down to Lefeld for the layin.. that works too.

Biggest surprise of the night: Floyd 1 FGA

2:30 on the clock

23-42 on the boards

18 2's FGA and 26 3's FGA . . . Wow! And not in a good way!

Ok, Floyd's 0-2, but a much better "floor" game after a really shaky start

It was a five point deficit with a touch over six to go...

FIVE of BG's next six shots were missed three pointers, with Lefeld's layup the only two-point shot we tried.

I guess you live by the three and die by the three, and we certainly were doing that tonight, but it still seems like they might have hit the panic button a bit early, possibly due to the foul situation. Then again, maybe they were five great looks that just didn't go...

zero points for BG point guards. Positive note the turnovers are less than 15 with one minute to go.

Brian Moten scores with under 10 seconds to go . . . 1-2(I thought he took another one) on the night with 3 points.

If we hit 75% from the line this could have been very interesting.

Oh well, nice effort 71-60 FSU, within 7 the last few minutes.

Moten hits a 3 at the buzzer... 72-60 final.

While Option's point about not having the three ball every night is more than valid, there has to be SOME silver lining buried in the fact that A) we got drilled out of the gate and came back to lead at a couple points of the game, and B) even with the same problems coming up, we hung with an ACC school that's been putting teams away with ease this early season.

Unfortunately, those problems are showing no signs of going away... I still think it's something that can be worked on, and if it improves, we might have a better MAC season than expected. However, as each game goes by, that "if" gets a little bit bigger.

Moten didn't see much time, but hopefully he'll give us a better look of what he brings the next few games, then really contribute when the MAC season hits.

TG- Great points, the guys played their butts off to get back into thanks to some hot shooting. We have to have more contributions from the scoring column. Yes, we are settling for too many 3's, but big props to the guys for continuing to battle.

Rebounding and yes, the stupid technical were decisive factors in this one. This one will continue to sting through Monday, I'm afraid. I'm more than interested to hear any comments about the technical and the momentum shift after that.

5, bascially 4, scorers, since Moten's was with little time on the clock.

27, 12, 10, 8 and yes Moten's 3.

No Darryl Clements at all and he played all the time in Virginia.

Nice job Tood avoiding the easy question about the technical. Are you serious?

Yeah, Moten's basket came very late in the game, we need to get more contribution from other players in the scoring column. I'm also wondering what the deal is with Clements. The longer he doesn't play, the more concerned I get about another off the court issue or possible departure. I hope it's nothing like that at all.

shedding a little more light on the barrage of 3's (or attempted 3's) late, from DD's postgame:

"You can't rely on 3s, and maybe we took too many. But Matt's (Lefeld) feet were killing him and towards the end of the game, we didn't really have anyone else to go down low. But we're going to keep working and getting better."

I had forgotten about Lefeld playing on sore feet. That and everyone and the waterboy having four fouls late explains the threes. Still just seemed like we launched a little early. Only 13 turnovers, though? Seemed like we had that many in the first 8 minutes.

Still not totally sure what to take from this one, but I think if we get rested by Monday, we can hopefully see what's up with this team against Troy. (And hopefully see some more of Moten.)

I noticed on ESPN.com that Troy seems to have a few guards that are leading the team in scoring, so our guard depth will be key in this situation. I believe their tallest player is in the 6-8 range as well. I would expect them to be very quick and athletic with a team composition like that.
