Anywho, if Dakich is padding the schedule with patsies to allow him to get an extension, as many on this board are insinuating, what's wrong with that? If you were seen on the verge of losing your job that you liked and supported your family with, wouldn't you try to create an enviroment that would allow you to remain employed? Dakich is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't with most people around this site. Just go to the freaking games and support the team.
I go to nearly all the home games (I've missed on or two a year at most for the past 6-7 years). I support the team by being vocal when necessary, etc. I have went to the Gund to watch the MAC tourney, especially BG's games, for the last 5 years. I have made at least one road game each of the last 6 years, usually I get to a couple of the roadies.

I think I support this team as well as anyone on this board.

One nice thing about going to all these games to support the team is that I get to watch them, and see what they are. You know what I've seen in most of that time frame? A heaping pile of pig crap.

Yeah, you're darn right that Dakich cannot win for losing with a lot of us, and I'll tell ya why. He has ruined this program and stomped it into the ground in the last 4 years. Did he do it on purpose? I highly doubt that. Does it pain him as much or more than it does the rest of us? I'm sure it does. Unfortunately, I also don't think that he realizes what he's doing wrong, and I don't think he knows how to fix it. If he does, damn well start making strides in the correct direction real freaking quick.

At the time Dan left for WVU I was a senior and knew some of the players. Dan Dakich lost that team when he left, and he has NEVER been able to regain the trust of the players. Is that his fault, or the fault of the AD for bringing him back? I don't know, but I do know that the lack of trust has proliferated down to all the new players year after year. He has NEVER been able to get his team to buy into his philosophy, and he cannot even get individual players to buy into him as a coach any more. As a result we look like a lost team on the court, and we have players leaving like mad after every season.

Dan Dakich was, at one time, a very good & respected coach in the MAC. I don't believe that the man forgot how to coach, but I also don't believe he will ever be a successful coach for this program again. It is time for both him & the program to move on without one another. He could still be a good coach someday, but that will never happen again in BG...unfortunately he burned that bridge on a weekend trip to Morgantown.

Yeah, I'll still be at all these games, rooting for this team. I still want what's best for the team & the program. But Dan would have to prove a helluva lot to me before I'd even begin to think he deserved an extension.

I've theorizied on a these points quite a while ago, and it's interesting to hear a confirmation from someone closer to the players. I would suspect that a certain undercurrent might have existed among the assistant coaches, as well. The attitude of the players set a tone that was passed down to incoming players, but I would also think that it would dilute over time. Unfortunately, there just haven't been enough W's to fill the void.

never accept a coach back immediately after he leaves....

We should have turned the page and moved forward and he should have found another team to coach or taken a year off.

On another note.....If Dakich leaves after this year....could we turn to Lamonta?

1. Is he ready?
2. Is he enough of a departure from Dakich?

Well, wait until they're announced and then check them out then I guess... lol sorry..
In getting back to the topic of this thread (the schedule), the tournament BG will be playing in at Wisconsin-Green Bay is called the Oneida Casino Holiday Classic (on Dec. 27-30) and will included the field of host Wisconsin-Green Bay, Bowling Green, Jacksonville State & Michigan Tech.

It looks like BG will play Michigan Tech on the 27, Jacksonville State on the 29th and Wisconsin-Green Bay on the 30th. We "should" be playing UWGB for the tournament title with this layout.

Good call. And yes, Michigan Tech is DII BUT Jacksonville State is DI and plays in the Ohio Valley Conference... don't look past them... I don't think they're a sure thing for either BG or UWGB.

If BG wins the division and/or the MAC tourney, no one will care about who we played in November.

But with the schedule, we should have a lot of wins. I just hope a bakers dozen or so come during league play. What's more, I hope I can make it to AA for a gam or two.

Go Falcons!!

Hope you can make it. If we can keep from shedding players this year, and to this point we're doing that, this actually has the potential to be a fun team to watch this year.

.....? Huh? Did I just say something positive about the upcoming year?
