Let's do this to make everyone happy: Hire Niekamp as the head coach because he can't lose!! (Again, get off Findlay's balls). We can then hire Welling as an assistant because he's sure to "steal" us some good recruits and we can also hire Curt Miller as an assistant for recruiting purposes and so our team can play like a women's team plays. Then to top it all off, we'll hire LaMonta Stone back in as our third assistant because he was the "great recruiter" that some of the people on this board has labeled him as, even though we still sucked and none of the new recruits showed much promise. Get with it people!!falconfan1999 wrote:How about Curt Miller just doubles up his duties?

I seem to have read this stuff about Orr contacting another MAC coach somewhere before
I was a bit dissappointed that no other names were mentioned as credible candidates. Orr must prove to Christopher that he has the energy, connections and ability to fight and win the recruiting wars with our conference and regional brethren. I like that he coached at Xavier and has some background in the Midwest.
The Josh Oppenheimer model has recently been duplicated by another mid-major school. San Diego of the WCC just hired the top assistant from league rival Gonzaga to be their head coach. There is already a precedent established within the MAC for a move like this with the Bobby Nichols/Jim McDonald case Flipper cited.

There are obviosely other candidates who have expressed interest or applied, but they have yet to be mentioned and detailed in print. Utah will make their call on Christain by tomorrow so that should decide if Oppenheimer is availible.
Stan Heath looks good but he seems like a job jumper. We should look closely at the growing list of former successful MAC coaches who are now availible: Ray McCallum (Ball State), Robert McCollum (Western Michigan) and now Heath.

I'm lost for words..... Lets think about the above statement concerning Heath being a job jumper. After his first head coaching job at Kent (01-02) he goes to the elite 8. He then leaves and goes to Arkansas for the past five seasons. In 1994 He spent 2 years at Bowling Green as an assistant and 5 at Michigan State after BGSU. So he has been to four D1 schools since 1994. Ray McCallum was at Ball State as a head coach, and left to go to Houston in 2000, and has since been at Oklahoma and Indiana, thats 4 schools in seven seasons. As far as Robert McCollum is concerned he also left for a bigger school in South Florida as soon as he had a chance. Why would Heath be considered the "job jumper" out of this group to be singled out? Heath would be a solid hire at BG, he has coached in the MAC and had success, knows the area for recruiting, and actually had a solid run, winning (this year) 21,22, 22, 18, and 9 games in each of his years at Arkansas.JoeFalcon wrote: Stan Heath looks good but he seems like a job jumper. Heath would be worse than Dakich. Mark my word. Be careful what you wish for. Look at what Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan have doen with new coaches from the assistant ranks. I don't want a re-tread at BG.commonsense wrote:I'm lost for words..... Lets think about the above statement concerning Heath being a job jumper.
