Not on defense he wasn't.

And don't look at his 20 point game tonight as a positive. Central literally didn't guard him, gambled that he couldn't be the one that beat them, and they were right.
He scored 20 points.... He beat them. The rest of the team made 12 total baskets. He isnt great but it was not his fault.

Did anyone even watch this game??? Central ran a triangle and 2 on Crawford and Thomas, leaving 2 guys down low on Calhoun and basically said "OK Dee Brown, go ahead and beat us." Dee was incapable. Don't be fooled by his 20 point game. He was awful.
If it wasn't for Dee Brown we would've never even been in the damn game. He was the only guy capable of making a shot at all. What game were you watching?

The one where Dee Brown shot 19 freaking times to GET to those 20 points. 19 shots. While shooting at a whopping .368 clip. And shooting .300 from beyond the arc. And turning the ball over 4 times!

Dee Brown sucked last night. Dee Brown sucked all season. Dee Brown sucked for the good part of his college career. He has no business playing starters minutes, and he sure as hell has no business taking 19 shots in any game outside of a Rec league somewhere.

Yeah, he made some shots, but good god when you shoot 19 times you damn well better make some shots...and you should score more than 20 points on those shots.

Overall the entire team sucked, in large part because Dee Brown & Jordon Crawford wanted to be the guys to take all the shots...they passed amongst themselves around the perimeter until one of them took a jump shot...and they've NEVER been good jump shooters.

Until we get a guard that can actually facilitate an offense this is the same crap we will see...it's just pathetic.

His shooting percentage was better then the rest of the team. You have to be open in the post to be fed. I dont recall anyone wide open waiting to be fed.

The entire defensive strategy was to collapse into the paint and let our perimeter guys shoot all the outside shots they wanted to. They couldn't hit those shots and thus CMU was never forced to change anything up.

I don't disagree that our offensive scheme blows. We don't move much, we don't create opportunities through plays or anything creative at all. But still it'd be nice if the perimeter guys could knock down some shots to force the defense into a more honest alignment.

And, FWIW, good guards make things happen off the dribble and GET those interior players open looks...we haven't had a guard who could do that in 10 years.

Yup...we lack a guard that knows how to attack the basket, force the defense to react and create opportunities. On way too many occasions this year our offense has been walk it up, swing it around the perimeter and then shoot a jumper. There's no flow...no sense of purpose....you seldom get the idea that our offense is designed to attack a flaw in the opponenets defense.

We're just out there playing hot potato
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I agree. I just dont blame the guards for it. (Except for them being unable to attack the basket)

I never get the feeling we have a strategy to beat the defense. Whoever has the ball with 3 seconds to go ont he shot clock shoots....on 1.
