I didn't mind Folkerstma for the rest of the year. At the very least he is a big body who can box our and fight for rebounds. We literally don't have much of that on this team.

I'd keep both guys on the team. They played with more heart on that court than some of the other players have all season. Keep them both and perhaps prove a point.

On the plus side...my daughter went three for three on Saturday picking up Superior (top) scores in flute, piano and pedal harp. She now advances to state's....

Yeah she's good in the woodwinds, but what about brass? Percussion? Stings? We need five-tool musicians at BG and this band director continues to recruit performers other schools pass on. He says he's recruiting musicians that "fit his system." How many years do we give him to implement his system?

Harps have strings...LOTS of them. Percussion? Piano often occupies the same sonic space as percussion...if that's even a thing...so we're covered there. Brass? There's only so many hours in a day...and the MSBOA limits musicians to three performances so another instrument would be superfluous. Since they don't allow more than three...I don't know if anyone has made state's on three instruments before, but I know thay haven't done so on MORE than three. So..in that sense..my kid holds a record. And no..it isn't made of vinyl

26 years ago while in NW Ohio I went to OMEA State competition. I received 8 Excellent 'A' awards. 5 in band and 3 in choir. 2 of each choir and band was as an ensemble. One is vocals was a solo. In band I received excellent is concert band and symphonic band. I too received 3 excellent ratings on 3 different instruments (Trumpet, French horn and Xylophone). I don't think they had a limit on musical instruments you could perform at state contest but then again that was over a quarter-century ago.

That's pretty cool...she's first chair flute in the HS symphonic band. They haven't hit districts yet...but they pulled ones last year in districts and states

Marching band got a one...her section the flutes got cited by the judges as being particularly awesome.

Her goal is to end HS with 12 1's at districts and state...we shall see...

Is she considering majoring in music at BGSU? Sounds like she is VERY talented. You should be very proud.

Proud? Who..me?. Yeah she's an awesome kid and she likes BG a lot. I think she wants to shoot for the moon and try for places like Curtis in Philly but BG would be great. Better than UT because BG has a College of Music

Thanks :)

Yeah..Eastman, Curtis, Julliard, Indiana for harp, Berklee... U of M for music/business...these are the schools that thoroughbreds go to. Her flute teacher says she could develop into that with HARD work....but it takes hard work to develop into anything unless you want to sofa surf all day :)
