Jans totally deserves to be fired. This was a matter of time. However, the minute the cellphone video starts it becomes less about the action, and more about the "gotcha". Just my opinion.

The first interview question for all potential new coaching candidates has to be.........What is your plan to beat Akron?

Oh I agree 100% man.

I was only sharing my experience with seeing him in the bar to say that I do believe this was an isolated incident, and not a recurring theme. The man made a colossal mistake, deserved to be let go, and will serve his time. I've done plenty of stupid s**t while drunk as hell (many of the people on this board have probably witnessed them), but thankfully I'm not in the public eye.

I hope he realizes his mistakes, corrects them, and goes on to a good coaching career elsewhere. Right now the emotions I feel are mostly pride towards Kingston, anger towards Jans, and sorry for his wife & kids...

Jans was "sloppy drunk" and had incidents with 3 different women that night. This abject lack of discretion, judgment, and self-control is stunning.

I've been very drunk at numerous times in my life, and never did crap like that (at least in public), and a highlight reel of drunken behavior would be entire from my college days, when I was 18-22. I can't imagine myself or any of my friends, as 40-somethings, doings something as stupid as Jans did.

To be a mid-40s married man with 2 kids and representing a college sports program and act like this....uh, er, guh, I'm speechless. When I coached girls rec softball, I carried in my conscience a "comportment obligation" that was self imposed. For Jans to go to a downtown BG bar, get completely fucked up, and repeatedly mess with college girls goes well beyond a comportment problem. How the hell does he look recruit's parents in the face after this?

I want to believe that this incident is rooted in an alcohol problem and that this incident is a "rock-bottom" for him. I want to believe that Jans will use this rock-bottom as a life turning point.

This whole thing stinks to me. I think someone roofied Jan's drink, planted his hand on that blonds ass, and if u watch the video close enough you see a shadowy figure in the background pop out and scream "bit!&". Jans was set up!! :-D

If this is true, then I am highly disappointed in the family. Writing an email stating that you don't want to make a huge national mess of things and hoping this will be an opportunity to correct a problem instead of fire the guy, then turning around and gloating that you got a guy fired is just distasteful. Their names were redacted from the emails sent back and forth, but now I wish I knew who they were so I could give them a piece of my mind. You should never gloat about somebody getting fired. What's wrong with people?

And before anybody questions it, I agree he should have been let go for what happened. But the people that reported it now want a parade in their honor, and that's disgusting.

have you been to every stadium? How much do you like Athens as a town? When is the last time we beat Akron?
Almost every one. Cool college town. Can't remember - it's been too long. Glad you pay so much attention, and here I thought no one cared.

Or, they should ask what immediately comes to mind following a game heading to the press conference. "To God Be The Glory" or "I can't wait to hit the bars?"

Did you read the email exchanges? He basically threatens Kingston by taking it national via social media. GOTCHA.

Very sad to hear that they are gloating about it. Not condoning what Jans did at all and BG handled it the right way, but if they are indeed gloating over all of this, that is equally sad.

This certain wasn't the kind of "March Madness" any of us had in mind. Days before the Final Four and BG is making national headlines for all the wrong reasons.

He made a huge mistake by going out in BG. I'm gonna say you haven't seen other coaches out on the town like that, let alone drunk. He was stupid if he's done this multiple times!

I would suspect that he'll sue ...not looking for his job back but for extended benefits for rehab and some $$$. Re the family and their threats to go national, he called their daughter a bitch. I would be sorely tempted to burn his ass too in that situation. One thing that really bothers me is the lack of intervention by the bar staff. Why is some random patron telling him to cool off? It never should have gotten to t hat point. and where were the men in that bar? Why is this guy's daughter stepping up...why not the two men at the table or the other guys in the bar.?

They need a visit from Jon Taffer.....
