Important night for BG in the MAC on Tuesday

Post by BGSU33 »

On Tuesday, we face EMU in a must-win game if we want a shot at a home game in the first round of the MAC Tournament. There are two other games tomorrow night that would be nice to get some help from other teams as well. Kent State plays at Toledo and Buffalo plays at Ball State. Obviously, we want BG to win, but we want Kent State to beat Toledo for a million reasons (one of them being to keep Toledo behind us) and in the Buffalo/Ball State game, it could work out either way for us. We're right behind Buffalo and right in front of Ball State in the current standings, but we've lost to both teams (but still have a game at UB remaining). I'm probably pulling for UB simply to keep a team that's already behind us there, but a UB loss could possibly help us later down the road. Either way, it's another big night in the MAC for the Falcons.

BG needs to take care of its business in games they should win, like Tuesday. The rest of the schedule is going to be very tough.

Agreed. I also think we should win against EMU, but they have just won two games including a road game at Ball State (which we couldn't do), so we've got to be ready tomorrow night. Looking at the rest of the MAC schedule for us ( EMU, @ UT, @ UA, KSU, MU & @ OU), it's hard to argue we "should" win any of those games which is why we must beat EMU. Man if only we could have won one or two of those one-point losses or overtime games. But we need to beat EMU, steal a couple of our remaining games, and hope the teams that are below us stay there.

Are you serious,...if we win, we can get home field? BBall is a little different than football so I'm confused on this one. Our record doesn't dictate home field at all. Would this just be for the East? Help me

Records do dictate which teams get a bye and which teams get a home game in the MAC. All 12 teams are in the MAC tournament. The Top team in each division get a bye, plus the next top two teams overall, then the 5-8th ranked teams host the 9-12th ranked teams at home. After that the games move to Cleveland. Right now BG is 8th. A win over EMU and UT would help, because they are currently ranked below us.

BG really needs a home game in the MAC tournament. I just don't see them beating anyone else on the road (maybe Ball State, definitely not UT or WMU). Hope I'm wrong. I really want to see them in Cleveland. I love the MAC tournament.
