Should Moten have been redshirted?

He was playing half of a year anyway, why not redshirt him for that half of the year since he has barely played anyway. Remember the buildup before he started playing. I hope that it is not the same thing with simms.

With as much help as we needed heading into this season, I felt we needed everyone we could put on the court and red-shirting anyone was not a good idea. Even though this season hasn’t gone nearly as well as we would like it to have, I still feel it was the right idea to play Moten and not red-shirt him. We’d still be 9-16 at this point without having Moten playing if he did red-shirt, but without knowing what he could or couldn’t provide without seeing him play, having him sit this year would have been just one more thing to point a finger at that could have helped us get better (even though the reality is, it really didn’t much). Plus, with the way we lose transfers, I say we play them while we have them no matter what. In a perfect scenario, yes, red-shirting him this year if it meant we could have him for four more years down the road might have been a good idea. But this season is far from a perfect scenario. Hopefully his limited playing time and experience will pay off down the road since he’s been getting some time this year. But like I said above, needed the help we need and not knowing if guys will stay, I think it was the correct decision to play him. If he was sitting on the bench red-shirting, we'd be screaming our lungs out right now to pull it off him and play him.
