Sentinel Tribune Sports Page today

Did anyone else happen to read the letter on the sports page of the Sentinel Tribune today? A letter in the Sports Mailbag from a fan in Perrysburg named Dale Barnard REALLY vented his frustration with Dan Dakich!!!!
Our Dan fans on this forum will probably have to admit - that this time -the horse has been beaten to DEATH.
So - grab the February 28th Sentinel Tribune - check out the letter on the sports page - and get back to me on your feelings about the letter that one very disgruntled Falcon fan went very public with.

:smt021 Bye Bye Dead Horse!!!!!!!

Somehow, I can remember the strangest things. I'm pretty sure that this is the same joker that came out with a letter to the editor 2 years ago (about the time Germain Fitch made a comeback from an injury). If I recall correctly, Brandon Pardon responded with a letter sticking up for DD.

I was just thinking the same thing....I'm almost positive it's the same guy.

Anyone else recall?.....I think someone may even have scanned it and posted it.

I couldn't find the Sentinel online, so I'll just type it here for you.

Letter writer critical of Falcon men's coach

To the Editor:
Although we hear a lot about Coach Stan Joplin's tenuous situation 25 miles to the North, the real mess lies right here in Falcon-land. Coach (?) Dan Dakich has systematically dismantled our once proud program. Why he is still here on campus is a mystery to me and many of the declining faithful who continue to show up for games. It isn't the players... they work hard. They want to win, but it is obvious they are not coached. They flail on the floor, they are tentative, it appears as if they are symply broken by a Bobby Knight wanna-be. Now Steven Wright is gone. Dakich advised the press that Steven left the team by " mutual agreement." What a shame .. another talented but disillusioned young man leaves the program!
Why are so many players injured during practice, why do so many quit or transfer? Why are players tentative, why do the flail? We fans know, the administration has to be aware also. Will Dakich be permittied to to drag us further into the basement? It's embarrassing; Dakich is an embarrassment!
When you boil it all down to what's really important ... it's the players! They deserve better; they deserve to leave B.G. with fond memories of their basketball experience. It's time for the Stan and Dan shows to move on. Stan is at least a gentleman; the words that are descriptive of Dan are not printable in your paper.
Hey.... Jim Welling just retired as Owens' basketball coach. He's a young man ... he might look good in orange!
Dale Barnard
Perrysburg

Well - that's the letter. Hey, how do you flail???? Help me with that one, would you?

"Tentative" and "flail" are not commonly linked adjectives. Mr Barnard wouldn't have lasted five seconds in one of Paul Parnell's classes.

Which is three seconds longer than most people lasted.

It's definitely the same guy. I have a copy of my rebuttal letter and it addresses him by name back then.

I wonder why this guy seems to have a personal vendetta against Dakich.

Even with people, administrators, or coaches I truly dislike- (which is very few) I would think long and hard before making such comments in conversation let alone in the public forum of a newspaper.

It's a shame about Mr. Barnard's dog and I hope Coach Dakich was able to remove the hair from the grill of his car. . . yikes.

More importantly, I want to know if you're going to be writing a similar rebuttal to this letter?

This isn't really any different than all those who came on here calling for Dakich's job.

Any rebuttal letter should include an education on the terms "contract" and "budget"
