Lefeld’s feet

Does anyone know if the problem Lefeld has with his feet is something that is just going to always linger with him, or if an off-season can help them heal and they can get better? I know he’s been ailing all season long with them, but I wasn’t sure if anyone knew if this will always be a problem for him, or if it could get better for him. Anyone know?

I would imagine that they'll heal in the offseason, at least to some extent, but the way I understand it the problem stems from him having no arches in his feet. Unless there is a surgery to put arches into feet I fully expect him to have to battle those issues all his career/life.

He sure limps a lot in the pregame. Got to give him credit for being out there at all. He is obviously in some pain.

He's basically running on the bones from what I've gathered. I don't think there's much that can be done to fix it and Horger alluded to that very point during the telecast of the Miami game.

That poor kid was definitely in some pain last night. Looks like he literally walking on pins and needles. Have to give him credit for being able to play through the pain. Hopefully he will get better.

If it is the case that Matt has no arches, I would doubt it will heal on its own to any extent that he would be able to play next season without any pain. Treatment is dependent upon the type of defect he has. If it's an inherited condition, then surgery is performed to aligned the foot bones properly or by breaking improper fusing of bones and then resetting them.
The other defect he could have is that of subtalar dislocation. The injury entails driving the talus bone medially and displacing the rest of the foot laterally. It's an acquired form of flatfoot that is usually caused by high-impact injury seen in sports. I would suspect this is the injury Lefeld has. The surgeon has to reset the tarsal bone and then immobilize the foot for 4-8 weeks to get it to heal properly.

Matt has problem with his arches and there's basically basically a bone popped out the bottom of his foot. Surgery will end his career. They should heal somewhat over the offsesaon, but he's gonna have to gut it out next year, as he's planning on doing.
Currently working with medical people from the Denver Nuggets to look for some hope with a surgery or rehab. Big time props for him to finish out the season as he did. Can't imagine how much pain he was in.

Surgery would end Matt's carreer? Wow, unbelievable! I feel bad for Matt. This is becoming a ugly disease for us. We can't go 2 seasons with out having someone on the squad have a major foot or knee problem.

Yeah, sometimes genetics really blows, huh? Wouldn't it be nice if Dakich wasn't such a bastard?

His pain was certainly visible from Section E. It was painful just watching his face when he walked around the huddle. I don't know how he did it or how he could go through it again.
"Sweets9"? Heh? What the hell kind of name is that?

As someone who has flat feet, I feel his pain. Mine aren't nearly that severe, but I know it can't be fun. I can help mine by wearing shoes with high arches, but his sounds much worse. Good luck to him and if he continues to play without much treatment, he will be tops in my book for determination and dedication.
