That makes it 95% certain that the winner of the tourney will be one of the top 4 teams during the regular season, given how tough it would be for a team to win games on 4 consecutive days.

Maybe the NCAA will change their tourney format and invite every D1 team to play...That way we can finally dance!! One can only hope....

I'm shocked they haven't done that already... it would only be one extra weekend, and as money-hungry as the NCAA is, it would bring millions upon millions, I'd think. Then again, you'd see games that wound up 100-20 or so in the first couple rounds, but who's counting when there's cash to be had!?!?!

Quicken Loans Arena is one of the worst venue names in the country. It's sad so many poor people gave so much of their money to those predators, that they can afford to name an arena.

Who really cares what the name is? The place, with its new seats and unreal scoreboard, is a great place to watch the MAC tournament.

Wouldn't they then cancel the conference tourneys, as those would then mean absolutely nothing (no automatic bids needed)? Would the add'l revenues gained by expanding the NCAA tourney offset the revenues currently made off the conference tourneys?

I think there is some misconceptions about what Quicken Loans really does. It is NOT a cash store/pay day loan agency. Quicken Loans is a legitimate mortgage lender. Some of the products they offer are riskier then your typically 30 year mortage from you local bank, but in now way, shape, or form is Quicken Loans a shady, predatory company.

Exactly. It's not like Quicken Loans is some pyramid scheme or in the knife-selling business.....

Interesting, sounds like a good idea I guess. It certainly gives every team a fair chance with the entire tournament being played on a neutral court. There's no doubt the current setup with the MAC first round was a huge advantage for the home team, but this idea pretty much levels the playing field.

Quicken Loans are processed by 8 year old kids in China. They work 75 hours a week and are paid one and a half peeled shrimp for their efforts....and no the shrimp are NOTdeveined

I gladly stand corrected. Here in SW Ohio you can't swing a dead Bobcat without hitting one of the predatory lending places.
Go Falcons!!

Did it not have those amenities under the old name? And you're right, I do wish I could care more about the games being played and the teams playing them. Then, maybe I wouldn't even notice that name.
Go Falcons!!

No, it didn't. The seats have all been replaced and the scoreboard is new since last year, when it was still Gund Arena. I was there a couple of weeks ago, when the Cavs played the Wizards (and Antonio Daniels), and it's a lot cooler there now. And I liked it just fine before.
I threw a few pics into the uploads gallery:
