I come to this forum mainly to learn about BG basketball.
A lot of the posts I see lately tell me more about the poster than about the team or its coaching staff.
GO BG!!

I couldn't agree more. If BG went 21-9 it wouldn't be good enough. Small budget, horrible facilities, and too hefty expectations. BG might have the worst game day production of any basketball arena I have been to. Some games I wonder if we pick a PA announcer out of the crowd. Pathetic I am not worried near as much about the coach as what I am the arena.

Five years ago Anderson was considered one of the toughest places for opponents to play and all our players loved playing in that atmosphere. The announcer & facilities haven't changed that much in that timespan. I'm not about to say they're top notch, but they are far from the largest problem with our program right now.
I don't believe expectations have changed that much either. Is it too much to ask to recruit a quality MAC player and have them reach their senior night? It certainly shouldn't be.

5 years ago, we rode an NBA player and a recruit for DD's hometown. You have an NBA caliber player in the MAC, and you will be good. Anderson was a craphole 10 years ago and still is today. Atleast we had a real PA announcer (Tom Glick was great.) Jim L. coached here 10+ years and never got to the tournament. His teams could hardly win big games on the road or on a neutral court when it really counted. He has been to the NCAA's 3 times since at GMU. His success at GMU makes me wonder if he is a good enough recruiter to offset Anderson's difficiencies. Obviously, DD is not. DD came in after a regular season MAC title. A new coach will be walking into a mess. It's not going to be easy to recruit to Anderson with a deteriorating fan base.

Yes Glicker was great, but he has been gone for more than five years.
Let's quit living in the past and look towards the future.

Remember how awesome it was to hear Glick say Paul Ysebaert at the Ice Arena...until we learned his name was to be pronounced EYES-A-BART instead of EVES-BEAR?

If BG went 21-9 it wouldn't be good enough.
If that was our average season, combined with running a clean program, everyone on here would be doing cartwheels.

So why doesn't that happen in the football forum. Avg. record for Gregg Brandon is very good. Clean program. Not much positive reading material to choose from.

Some people don't think 3 years is enough of a track record to definitely conclude that Brandon should be considered a long-term fixture. Plus we fell far below expectations last year. However, I don't see anybody calling for Brandon to be fired, nor does there seem to be much negative in the last few months after people got over their disappointment.

But WHY must we now have a PA guy who sounds more like he belongs on the cartoon network than behind a mike? We should make our current guy dress up like a clown and entertain the kids at half time. We could pull fans out of the seats at random that have a better PA voice.
