We're not the only ones

I know this could go into the other schools forum, but I thought I'd put it here because it reminds me of our board, and talking about Coach Dakich. If you guys checkout soonerfans.com, and go under the basketball forum, you will find a lot of resemblance to our board right now.

The big difference is they just lost their coach, while some around here wish BG would lose theirs.

Yes, but the overall feeling that I get is that there were quite a few calling for Coach Sampson's head at OU they had become "stagnant" and had lost a few players, sound familiar?

Read the IU boards. They're just as ticked that he's been hired.

I oughta kick their asses. They think they're stagnant? 9 straight 20-win seasons is stagnant?!? Screw those guys.

That does sound familiar to the tone over here. I think we're a tad more justified in our frustration though.

Oklahoma?

Seems that Oklahoma's 'bitch" about Sampson has to do with something in the vicinity of 550 "illegal recruiting" phone calls and a self-imposed (by OU) limit on recruiting.

He's also had very little tourney success, outside of one final four appearance, I believe.

I think we're way more justified in our frustrations, but when you're consistently ranked high and winning 20+ games, I guess you want more, and that is consistent tournament success.

At this point I'd be thrilled for some MAC tournament success. Hell I'd settle for a basketball team/system that was enjoyable to watch.

Yeah I'm not sure this is a quality hire for IU. This isn't exactly the big name coach fans were expecting. IU is a basketball school and 20 wins is great and all but if you lose in the first round of the tournament every year the fans are going to get on you.
Heck Mike Davis out coached Sampson in the 2002 Final Four. Plus there is a chance that IU could be penalized for his actions while at OU. Why take the chance?

Heck, check out the New Mexico boards. They're in-fighting about how Krebs hasn't "said" anything yet.....even though he hasn't officially started yet.

They're nuts.

And Transfers too

We're not the only ones losing transfers from the B.ball program...go to OCSN and take a look at how many kids are leaving their current schools....two from Dayton alone for example.... makes you wonder why kids choose to come to a particular school to begin with...unless their egos have been "bruised" by tough coaches, less Playing time etc. :x

I await any evidence of another D1 team losing 12 out of 16 recruits.

IU basketball may not be the plum job that many people think it is. A susbtantial segment of the fan base is still pissed that knight got booted and the expectations are exceptionally high.

If I were a high level D1 coach, I wouldn't want any part of that.

Auburn is getting close. They just lost their 8th player in the two years since Jeff Lebo become head coach. (4 of those left pretty soon after he was hired. But the other 4 were his recruits I believe.)
