6-8 G/F from a JUCO in Illinois is supposedly visiting next weekend. I wonder if this visit has been called off with the news of Hamblet and Knight signing or if we are still looking?

6-8 185??? Get that kid some food!!!

Maybe we're just stockpiling kids to have enough depth after injuries, transfers, etc... If Knight ends up on an academic scholarship, I think we'll know what's up.

This could very well be a relationship building process with the school. After researching the college a little bit. I found Keith Jackson, who has grown to 6'10/240 lbs. He is originally from Lima Senior HS.

For my money, the only reason you see the 4/28 visit date is because scouts.com cannot realistically keep all of their data current. I think that's the most likely explanation.

We can't use a 6-8, 185 pound guy anyway.

I think that this kid could be getting a very serious look. Southwestern Illinois made the national tournament after having a solid year this year. He had a pretty good national tournament with a 12, 8, and 20 point performance in the first three games. If you can do that well in the national tournament, you are a pretty good player. From the looks of it, this kid can shoot the three a little bit also. With the team struggling last year the way they did, and having a young team, I think that coach needs to look for a JUCO kid that can come in and contribute right away, and provide some leadership.

The 6-8 Blackledge averaged 10 points per game this season but was at his best on defense. The former Carbondale High School player finished the season with 130 blocked shots.

Blackledge is also being recruited by several NCAA Division I schools, including Southeast Louisiana, Bowling Green, Murray State and Arkansas State.

I like what I'm reading (i.e., 6-11 wingspan). Florida has done well recently with that sort of player. However, unless there's something I don't know, we gave our final 06-07 scholarship to Hamblet.

If Knight doesn't qualify, he isn't going to get a scholarship for next season. Because I don't have enough time to follow all of the scholarship players because of dealing with my own, someone tell me how many are taken without Knight. My hunch is that Knight doesn't qualify, and has to attend BG with other financial aid to help him out. If that's the case, I think that Blackledge is a good pickup. He comes from a very successful JC, and averaged double figures in a winning program.

Hamblet and Polk seem to have brought us to our limit....I say seem to because while the Blade ran a story about our recruiting, the University hasn't released anything officially. I had emailed the communications office prior to the Blade story to see when they might have an official release about the spring signees. I was told that the University would run something when all the paperwork was in. Is the lack of a release on the official website an oversight or is there something else going on?

Do you still grouse about times you were wronged in elementary school too? You're not getting that snack pack back pal.
