Of course! They would be perfect head coaches. All their recruits and players would be TRUE athletes. They would win at least 20 games EVERY year. They would win the MAC Tourney and go to the NCAA Tourney EVERY year. Their players would all do great academically and graduate and their would NEVER, EVER be any transfers because they would run their program so good that everyone would want to play for them! And AA would be sold out every game. They would so perfect that nobody would need to bitch on this board about everything their doing wrong!! :-D

Nobody would ever be that perfect.

Personally, I know I'm not even close to qualified to be a coach in any sport. However, that doesn't mean that I don't know what I'm talking about when I see something I don't like...the same goes for many others. If you're willing to back up your opinions with your observations, and why you're arriving at those opinions, I don't care what you say.

Does that mean Dan would be recruiting the non-qualified students?

I kind of go both ways on this issue (does that make me an opinion homo?) On the one hand, there certainly seem to be issues that arise in game that are open to criticism from knowledgeable fans. On the other hand, I think that until you've actually built a team, studied an opponenent and formulated a game plan to beat that opponent and then executed in game adjustments while taking that opponent on, you should probably think twice before criticizing. What looks obvious to you may be the result of numerous subtle factors that you have no knowledge of.

Of coures, I work in a field that is eternally open to monday morning QB'ing and second guessing, so I don't have particularly thick skin on this one.

What is with the 3-5 years experience at the high school level? Would they not consider someone with 6 years? And if so, doesn't that make the range irrelevant? Why not just "at least 3 years"? I just read a job posting that stated that the right combination of education and experience would preclude the need for the minimum education and experience requirement. I applied, not for that position, but for the Director of Personnel-I figure they need help.

Dare I ask what the status of this position is? Artie left in mid-May and the review of applications was slated to begin June 5.

It'd be nice to have a full complement of assistants once the July recruiting period begins.

I was half asleep listing to my alarm radio this morning, and Todd Walker said the coach would be John Stroia. Must not have been officially announced yet.

Stroia was previously an assistant at Weber State and head coach at Youngstown State.
