NIT field shrinks from 40 to 32

From a general college basketball standpoint, I think it's probably a good idea. But from a BG standpoint (coupled with the fact we haven't been to the NCAA Tournament since '68 and the NIT usually is our "postseason"), I don't like it. Nevertheless, the field is being cut by eight teams.

I don't think it will hurt "mid" teams as much as the middle-feeders in the Big 6 conferences. The teams that win their conference's regular season will continue to go to the NIT, I understand.
