Is there any news on the possible New BGSU COnvocation Center that would replace anderson arena as the home for BGSU Mens and Womens Basketball teams? Does anyone have any info? It would be greatly appreciated!

I heard they're going to build something down in the Marina District on the east bank of the Maumee river.... should be ready ANY TIME now....
(that's probably only funny if you're in NW Ohio)

That marina district project is buzzing right along. They've done the 3rd or 4th feasibility study and drawn up some plans. Now they just have to do the secondary studies of the plans to make sure they don't need any other plans. Once that's completed they can start planning the next series of studies because Toledo will probably have a new Mayor by then and he or she will want to have more input.
Whatever happens with Anderson Arena, it can't possibly be as torturous as what's happening in Toledo.

Bump.
I know we're in a "changing of the guard" but this study should have been done a LONG time ago, and the University has been very quiet about it.

Not to be pessimistic, but after so many years of talk and rumor about a new facility, it's getting very hard to take any of it seriously. Personally, I've decided to not even think about it until I can see the earth moving equipment on the campus.

Maybe they found it was not feasible.

I don't believe "not feasible" was a choice. They wanted to either re-do Anderson or build a new convo. Then again, maybe the idea has been moved back till after the Sebo. I would like someone "in the know" to just let us (possible donors) know.

I’m with you BleedOrange. When I worked with the basketball team, I actually sat in (then BG coach) Jim Larranaga’s office at looked at actual blueprints for a new arena myself. The players then were even helping come up with names for the new arena. That was more than a decade ago. So like you, I too have pretty much put the new arena or renovation ideas up high on a shelf until I actually see something start to unfold (like the Sebo). All the talk about things then is still talk now. So until something actually happens, new logos on the court, speakers you can actually hear and duct taped bleachers will serve as our improvements.
