I cannot believe we play a home & home with Arkansas St. in the same year!

Maybe if we load up on patsies we can win 15 games again? Doubt it...

Does that have something to do with paybacks for Bracket Buster games?

I'd like to give Dakich more credit then that, but it sure looks like we loaded up on patsies in order to help him get a new contract. 17-18 wins at the end of the season would look good, until you look back at the schedule.

Look at Miamis schedule, then look at ours. This may be the lowest BGs program has been since I began following it.

The official release is up with commentary by DD.

http://bgsufalcons.cstv.com/sports/m-ba ... 06aae.html

"Scheduling is something that is a lot more difficult than it looks," said BGSU Men's Basketball Coach Dan Dakich. "We think the way our schedule is set up this year it will have us ready when the MAC season rolls around in January."

The way things have gone here over the past 3-4 years, if we gave Dan Dakich an extension this year for anything short of an NCAA tourney berth I'd have to seriously question our new AD's competence.

Dakich is the epitome of a lame duck coach this year. He should have almost no chance at earning an extension, as far as I can tell. What he's done to this program, oddly one that he built up fairly nicely, is just amazing.

You know you have problems when Denison is on your schedule. It is only 10 min. from my house and they don't even recognize sports other than lacrosse.

*Did I mention they are a DIII school?

The only positive I am taking from this schedule is having home games at the end of the fall semester. If things pull together some big wins should translate into some good home attendance numbers for at least the start of the home MAC schedule. Other than that, lets get this thing rolling so we can go out and find a new, dedicated coach for the program. Anything short of a "Sweet 16" appearance just won't justify keeping him for me.

So you're saying if we win the MAC tournament, and go dancing for the first time in almost 40 years, and then beat a 4 or 5 seed to top it off, you wouldn't renew the coach that made it happen? That seems pretty harsh, even in light of the program's decline.

I would think that the next coach that gets us to the dance buys himself 5 years of teflon.

You got it. I see in DD a coach who saw the money and ran. Then realized the grass wasn't as green on that side of the fence and begged to come back. At that point he lost the respect of his players (I have spoked with many on the team at the time and that is exactly what happened) and he has not been able to get it back. I see a program who is losing players for whatever reason faster than watching a cement block sink to the bottom of the Maumee River. We were, and will be better off without this person at the helm.

This schedule is an abomination. The reason and goal of this type of schedule is so irritatingly obvious, anyone who reasons the validity of this schedule should be caned with some cast off rebar from the SEBO center.

I write my own job objectives at work. I sure as hell don't make them easy!

I don't think there was any rebar in the Sebo center...hence the new construction. I'd be up for tipping one of hose rebar less walls over onto the first schmuck who says this is a good schedule...
