Season opening presser

Post by orangeandbrown »

Starting press conference from Coach. Here's the Q&A. Despite how discouraged I was in August, I am getting excited.

Note, FWIW, a walk-on joining the team from Georgia.

Austin has added 20 pounds of muscle. I think this will make a big, big difference for him. With this added strength, I think that he can now be a very effective player for us.

If it hasn't cost him any quickness, 20 lbs of muscle will help him immeasurably at both ends of the floor.

While it's a bit overdue, I'll join the list of those who say that the signees thus far SEEM to be good/great additions . . . Big guys with athleticism. I told Grant, we still have two out there and I'll take a 6'3" combo guard and another low post 6'9"-6'10" guy, but I want a banger to go along with VanderMeer and Lefeld.

That may be asking for too much and I realize that . . .

However, back to the original post . . . That's great that Austin has added 20lbs . . . But I don't recall reading in any basketball book or anything similar that adding muscle fixes piss poor ball-handling skills . . .

The walk-on from Georgia could be interesting . . . I have a hard time imagining someone coming that far, if they weren't supremely confident that they could contribute . . . We'll take all the confidence we can get!

The walk-on from GA is also 6' 6". So I agree he must have talent to come up here to walk-on.

I saw a guy about 5'9 or so walking out of AA the other day with Reimold and Almanson. It wasn't Perrick though...this guy looked more like a Kris Wilson type. Don't know anything else about him.

And a quick browse through the roster bios shows that none of the current players have the cornrow hairstyle.
