The John Floyd Story.... NBC24
Tonight on NBC 24, Jim Tichy is going to air the first of a 2 part interview with J-Flo entitled "The John Floyd Story." They ran a little teaser on the early morning news today. Looked like it could be pretty interesting. Remember though, it's sweeps and they're trying to draw in viewers... sizzle... steak... yeah.
If someone could please watch this, maybe even TiVo it? I'm not going to be around to be able to catch it unless they re-run it at 11.

Sounds dramatic and juicy. I wonder if Norm will have balls enough to ask Coach Dakich about it on the radio.ZiggyZoomba wrote:Tonight on NBC 24, Jim Tichy is going to air the first of a 2 part interview with J-Flo entitled "The John Floyd Story." I'd be interested in seeing this or at the least reading an in depth recap on here.
Still excited to catch my one game on the 25th. . .

Actually, part one was on at 6 and part 2 will air at 11. I was stuck at work, but I found a TV to watch part 1... nothing earth shaking in there, but J-Flo did say he had no ill feelings towards Dakich and was thankful to have a scholie for 3 years. So far, it's a non-story. They did say they asked for an Interview with DD but he declined.

Well I was able to catch the first part of this story and I thought it was a story not a non-story Grant. Floyd made a comment that I found funny......"An All-Transfer team could beat the Current Team" and he also said that there was definitely something wrong with the program but did not elaborate beyond that. I got the feeling he was defnitely referring to DD.

It is me, or does it seem like whenever BG starts something new anymore, someone is right there focusing on how to shine a negative light on things before things get started? We build the Sebo and nothing is really said (outside of the BG community) about the impact it will/could have on the university/athletics program, but as soon as the elevator shaft needed replaced during construction, the Blade puts the story on the FRONT PAGE with color pictures of the pile of cement bricks being removed and does a story on that. Then today, coming up on the eve of the start of the men’s basketball season, a news station is running stories about John Floyd? WTF. I mean, why are they doing stories on this now? If they were going to do it, they should have done it months ago. If they want a story about BG basketball, what they should be doing is a feature story on how no one has left recently – now that’s newsworthy!
With that said, every time I check the men’s hoops board and see a player’s name listed in a thread, I fear what it’s going to say inside. I know I can’t be alone either, you hold your breath too, don't you? The fact of the matter is, we have had WAY too many players leave for whatever reason in recent years. I don’t know who’s to blame, or what the root of the issues are, but the fact of the matter is, there has been a major problem with our program. But that can change right here and now. Every year we began a new basketball season I used to think, “maybe this could be the year” we can get back to the NCAA Tournament. But over the last five years, I still start the season off by thinking, “maybe this could be the year”…….only it’s not about the NCAA Tournament anymore, it’s about us being able to finally keep our players here and build BG basketball up to what it was not long ago.
About Floyd’s comment about the All-Transfer team. You know what, the shame of the matter is, it just might be true, we lost a lot of talent. So much that I hate to even think about what could have been. This program has been given a major black eye because of all the crap with transfers, players quitting, coaches doing or saying this or that, and now, the losses have finally caught up with all that BS and it has become beyond embarrassing. But this year’s team, coaches and fans have a chance to put all this s**t to rest and get the program pointed back in the right direction. Because as an alum, and a huge fan, I will always pull and cheer for my Falcons, period. But with that said, we’ve had enough turmoil over the last few years to last us too long, and it’s time for the members of this program to stop pointing fingers, blaming and badgering one another, and start becoming a program that is a collective unit that we know BG basketball can be - AGAIN. The past will never be in the past if we keep reliving it year after year. I’m so sick and tired of going through what we have had to deal with recently. Give me coaches and players who can come together as one and get this program back on track. Do we have that now? I sure as hell hope so already. But only they can determine that and time will tell. But if you’re like me, I’m tired of waiting. The season starts Saturday, it’s time to put all this bullshit to rest and start fresh for a change. GO BG!!!
I am now stepping off the soapbox……..

Is this the hockey board? ....oh wait...sorry...wrong board.....JoeFalcon wrote:I'd respect the guy a lot more if he had specifics to back up his vague accusations and childish insults.

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

JoeFalcon,
What do you expect Floyd to say in an interview? I for one took that there is obviously something wrong with the program and it is DD. Floyd said what he said and again I found his comment about the transfer team funny and sadly true. BGSU33 is right...it is a shame how much talent we have lost and the thing that bothers me the most about it is every time we lose someone, there is an excuse for why he left. This has been the trend the last 4 years and at the beginning of every season we hear the coaches say that we now have guys who want to be here and thats how you win. I am starting to think that the guys we have here at the beginning of every year are brand new guys and figure out that this is not the place for them at the end of that particular year or we have guys who are just not good enough to go anywhere else. Let's be honest with ourselves here guys about 75% of this team would not be here today if it was not for our transfers or guys who quit. We were forced to recruit many of these guys to fill out a roster. This is in turn leads to second-tier talent and in essence led us to the basement of the MAC last year (basement is being generous because by the end of year we were in a frickin coffin 25 feet deep)

At the time, a good number of us were dumbfounded when we learned that JF was given a scholarship. With all of the talent available in his size range, we couldn't understand why we'd take someone who was not only not a good athlete, but also a mediocre shooter.
Who knows what was going thru that kid's head. As far as I know, the problems didn't start until his scholarship was yanked due to the DUI.
I wonder how much he reads these forums. He's taken more of a pounding than DD out here.
