Sounds like they are doing well but they again need to stop fouling everything that moves.

Falcons are 1-0.

Denison thinks it was an exhibition.

The game counts as a regular season victory for the Falcons but will not count as a loss for the Big Red due to the differentiating start dates mandated by the NCAA.

I guess I should've realized but didnt until I checked Denisons athletic site that they're indeed Div.3. I'd like to how many more of these do we have? I was hoping or thought that most if not all our non-conference games were vs Div.1 opponents but I maybe I should've known.

Just wanted to see how you guys would react to that one. Honestly I was happy with what I saw but again the real season starts Thursday with our first game agianst an actual opponent. Looking forward to seeing how we will measure up against an actual D1 opponent.

I liked a lot of what I saw. But understand it was against a Div III team. Samarco was solid. Hamblet looked decent. Sims looked good shooting the three. Larson is a big body, but looks a little slow. For the most part, I thought Otis looked a little lost. I think those two need some time to develop.

I liked how we really tried to push the tempo. There were several times when someone was walking the ball up the court and Dakich yelled at them to get going and they kicked it into gear.

Another coaching issue I noticed was near the end of the first half. You could hear Dakich clearly tell everyone "get Otis a shot." Dusan put up a three rather early in the possession and was thusly taken out at the next dead ball. I don't like when he overreacts and takes a guy out for making a mistake. But I think it was a good lesson is this case. When you tell a player exactly what you want and he doesn't do it, he needs to take a seat and learn from that.

One negative was our fouling. We still play defense too much with our hands and not with our feet. Dennison shot 24 free throws compared to 8 for us. And I thought the refs let us get away with a lot being that we were clearly the bigger more physical team. We keep playing defense like that and we are gonna need all 13 guys on the roster because guys will be fouling out every game.

It was GREAT to see the minutes distributed among so many players. I know that as we face better and better teams we'll drift more towards a 8 man rotation, but I'd like to see a 10 or 11 man rotation instead.

I'm curious about how Marcshall, Moten, and Clements looked. Marcshall didn't get that many minutes: was that because we got up big early so DD chose to use his bench? Moten played and scored a lot. Was his a quiet 15, or did he look really good? Clements had a balanced stat line.

Also, how did Matt look running on those feet?

best thing about the game

Best thing about the game was watching the enjoyment of the two young men involved with the make a wish coaching experience. So neat when Dan let them run the time out with about 8 minutes left and then let them do the post game radio show. Many on this board seem to miss out on the really neat things that many of our BG coaches do in the community! Some things are so much more important than winning a game. BG has so many really quality people in their athletic department..who believe it or not do lose games some times..so what ..it's only a game!
