Women's hoops vs. Temple on Friday
All you hoops fans that have or maybe haven't come out to watch these ladies play yet, Friday is your chance to see a great game against Temple in AA. Tip-off is set for Friday at 7, and there will be some pre-game celebration of last year's success.
Getting a team like Temple (and Indiana later this year) to come into AA and play us is a great accomplishment, and these ladies deserve great fan support to help them get some revenge for Football.
Come give this team a chance -- you won't be disappointed.

Yeah Hammb, I'd be willing to bet J4H might even pay for your ticket if you go (sorry to volunteer you, but I would if I were in town on Friday, and you have a job...
). Hell, maybe he'll throw in a beer and a lap dance!

Don't do women's basketball. It's cool they're doing well. I wish them the best.
I just have no desire to watch it. When they can jump to get a rebound at the rim or dunk let me know, I'll give them a shot. Until then, I cannot get into it.
No offense, buddy, but when were YOU able to "get a rebound at the rim or dunk"? Just asking.
P.S. I used to have a similar attitude ( I can't dunk either), but these girls are just plain fun to watch.

Georgeanne Wells dunked when she was a t West Virginia back in the 1980's (I graduated high school with her brother and she graduated two years ahead of me).hammb wrote:When they can jump to get a rebound at the rim or dunk let me know, I'll give them a shot.
Tennessee has a player that dunked twice in one game last year. I think it was Candice Parker, but not sure.
Looking forward to seeing you at the game on Friday!

Look, I'm sorry, but I just do not do women's basketball. When I do watch women's games (only when they precede a men's game I'll get there early and watch) I spend most of my time laughing at the total lack of athleticism. To me the women's game is just awful, and I don't like watching it.
It's the same as when I was in HS. I went to an all white farmer HS (Elmwood). I went to no more than a couple of the basketball games because they were, to me, horrible to watch. No athleticism on the court at all, unless we were playing an opponent that had us vastly outmatched.
I know the women's team plays better basketball than the men's team. I know they're fundamentally sound, they play harder, and they have better schemes. Still I'd rather watch our lousy men's program than the women's team. I wish them the best of luck, and I'm happy to see them do well, but I will not be in attendance to watch it.

I love watching this team. THEY ROCK!
Hammb,
You're entitled to your choices like anyone else. But to miss women's game because they can't dunk or get a rebound above the rim? That's what the NBA is for.
The BG women play a great brand of basketball and I'd much rather see excellent shooting, passing, dribbling and defense than dunks any day.
GO FALCONS!!!

Hammb, your reasoning for being able to get into watching the lady falcons play is weak in all respects. Yeah, ther'es no dunking , hasn't been much in the mens either if I remember correctly. I can't believe you'd rather watch our men's team & their torrid offensive scheme over our lady falcons who do have a scheme and look good while doing it. There's been absolutely nothing boring about how the women have been playing.
Also ther'es some decent athletism on the court as well. Kate Achter is a pretty athletic pg as you'll see men or ladies and she' made some plays off a Honneger pick that was remaniscent of a Jordan pull up jumper. Hey, I dont' get or like Hockey that much but even I have made an effort on several occasions to get out to the Ice Arena and watch some games. The least you could do is come out for the Indiana Lady Hoosiers game in AA Dec. 6 and see if you don't see and exciting uptempo game. Oh yeah, and its a measly 5 bucks.

You, sir, have no room lecturing someone on the cost to attend an athletic event.falconboy wrote:Oh yeah, and its a measly 5 bucks.

Sorry guys you'll never convince me. Women's basketball is BORING.
You wanna know why I'd rather watch our men than the women? Yes, the women are more competitive, but the overall product of the game is far inferior, and I cannot get my mind beyond that. Our men's team is among the bottom 75 in all of Division 1 (just a guess). Our women's team is among the top 30 of Division 1. But what would happen if these 2 teams matched up? It'd be a slaughter.
I'll go further. I think I can take a top level HS team, and probably beat a WNBA team. The athletic ability required to play the game at a high level is just not found in females. Perhaps this sounds sexist, but it's also the truth. I don't like basketball if you take the athleticism out of the game, it's boring to me.
If we were a DIII school and had the talent level of some of the exhibition teams we play I wouldn't be going to the men's games either. Just like I didn't go any of my HS's games when I was in school. I enjoy basketball being played at a high level, but when you take the athleticism out of it, I'd rather watch grass grow.
