What a Finish!

Post by NYFalcon »

Up 11 with 2 minutes to go....Troy ties it up with a long 3 with 7 seconds to play. Samarco hits a offbalance three at the buzzer and BG wins 72-69. Samarco made up for missing a free throw with 15 seconds left. GREAT WIN!!

It WAS a win but it was not so great. We decided to go into a nice little coma for about 5 or 6 mins and let Troy back in it with a flurry of missed FT's and throwaway passes under pressure. Right now, our offense is so disgusting to watch I don't why I come at half anymore to watch our bullsh!t offense. Call to Hammb, you really like watching this crap? Yay, we won on a last sec shot by Mart but we shouldn't have needed such a shot to win. Troy was shooting absolutely dreadfull from the field , we shoulda won by 15 easily if we had an offense. A good mid-major team would crushed that team. Yes, they were athletic but that really shouldn't have mattered a hill of beans, when your apponent shoots so badly.

If anyone wants to watch an awesome offense and an uptemp game , come to AA next Wed. at 7 for the Lady Falcons vs the Lady Hoosiers of Indiana.

Funny Falconboy but I was talking with Grant about you at the game.

You shoulda made it to the first half when Hamblet had 2 breakaway dunks.

Yeah, I'd rather watch our men's team screwup down the stretch when they had played a great game for 36, then win in exciting fashion. I do not like women's basketball. I do not like it on a box, I do not like it with a fox. I do not like it here or there, I do not like it anywhere.

Over the past 5 years they have scheduled those double header games which have made me watch some of their play. It's crap. I don't like it, it's BORING. At it's highest level women's basketball is boring. The men have potential to not be boring, so I'll take my chances with that.

The second half today was ugly, but the first half was pretty damn exciting if you ask me. That's 20 minutes more interesting basketball than I'd see the entire season of watching the women. You won't see me there unless it precedes a men's game, so deal with it.

Okay Hammb, I guess I give up on you. But you sir are a glutton for punishment. So what , Hamblet had 2 breakaway dunks. I saw the Erik Marshall dunk in the second half and the crowd sounded about as excited as they would be listening to a John Kerry speech. Even when the BG men dunk , its not THAT exciting anymore.

Your giving up a chance to see our own lady falcons who will see post-season play while our men will absolutley not and probably never will for a long time as DD is coach. I really feel sorry for you. Have fun only watching pathetic basketball all year long while our Lady Falcons repeat as Mac champions and return to the NCAA Tourney for the 3rd time. :smt117 :supz:

Nice prose, hammb! LOL! I saw the score was 53-45 with about 9 min left. Then I saw 67-61 with 1:21 left...and then the final. Sounds like it was a exciting finish. I've been watching college football and basketball all day...gotta get back downstairs.

I don't care who we're playing these days...just win games. Troy is a Div 1 team and 4-3 coming into the game.

Rematch with Arkansas State Monday night. I think I'm gonna have to listen to this one. I'm not saying this team will win the MAC but something seems to be working lately. Roll Along...

Falconboy you can stay at the Womens games with that attitude, who needs that! I thought like hammb that the men played very well for 36 minutes. The full court press hurt us down the stretch, we played not to lose instead of trying to win. This team likes each other which is a pleasure to watch. I think as the year goes they will continue to get better. DD played 12 guys in the first half. Nate Miller will add some much needed scoring punch.

I think it's sad that so called fans come on here after a win just to rip the team and DD.

Sounds like an honest review. Maybe, just maybe, there is something coming together...should be interesting. Thanks for the comments.

Or maybe its like watching one team your whole life and and developing love for another team later in life. It happens to MOST BGSU students. I am not the avid Buckeye supporter I once was and I will certainly never put them over my alma mater, but I will still cheer them on when I can.

I grew up as a Falcon fan but I'm an OSU Grad.
I've had season tickets on and off for 25 years. Off when I didn't live near by. Fans don't rip their team after wins

I'm a part of the win's a win crowd, so I never feel obligated to make excuses for close games or apologize for not winning by more. After taking today's game in, I was pretty impressed by the squad overall, and though Dakich coached a hell of a game. He wasn't out there missing free throws down the stretch, or throwing passes away, so I don't think the game being closer than it should've been had anything to do with DD. Our perimeter shooting was very good (Clements), despite Samarco's struggles (made up for it big time). We were also very solid on D against Troy's size advantage, and I think this team is conditioned very well because it seemed they still had a lot left in the tank at the end in a game that was fast paced and up and down the floor. DD had a nice roatation and keeping guys fresh also helped this. Let's just give props to Samarco for being major clutch at the end, almost Almonson-esque. (If anyone remembers the Miami game in '05 when Josh won the game at about the same spot on the floor as time ran out, the one where it started late b/c Soler broke the backboard in pregame.) A fun game to watch and a nice win.
