This is why the NCAA is a joke.

They penalize a kid for playing in a "unsanctioned 3-on-3 tournament on campus." I wonder what section of the phone-book sized NCAA rule book that heinous act ran afoul of.

When not trying to kick schools out of Division IA competition to consolidate their billion dollar empire, they take away Nate Miller's right to participate in a basketball game.

They must be so proud of themselves.

Yes. They have to feel great about making such a meaningful difference in peoples' lives.

Stephen Smith said this last night: "College sports are so messed right now because the presidents are running things and they don't know what they're doing." Love his bluntness.

At what point do you stop and ask: "How much complexity and detail really makes sense in regulating college sports?" I think that question needed to be asked a long, long time ago.

You are very right here, and the one thing that no one ever seems to think about is how much money is spent by individual schools in enforcement. Every AD has at least a couple of people in the department who's primary duty is to manage compliance. Just imagine how much more effectively that money could be used if these people didn't have to spend all their time making sure that student athletes aren't playing in some sort of intramural tournament!

I don't see the problem with participating in your own school's intramural activities. It might not be fair for the opposing team, but what's some extra practice?

And plus, I'd rather see a basketball team member out there just being a college student like the rest of us than secluding himself to make us wonder who is this guy and does he go to college here.
