Sad, Sad Day

Well first we have people coming back to OhioBobcat with sayings such as "our marching band is better than yours" but to make matters much worse I just did a cross check and today was the first D1 victory for Central Arkansas this season. Knowing that this is their first year in D1 I decided to check to see if they have any other D1 victories and to my dismay they did not. The Bowling Green Falcons were the first D1 victory ever for Central Arkansas. We are a far cry from the rest of the MAC as we are losing at home to a team like this by 15 while Buffalo is in a 1 point game with the #2 team in the country as I am writing this. Please will everyone stop predicting 18-20 wins for this team. We will be lucky to win 10 even with our soft non-conference schedule.

Wow, dude. Certainly not a good day, but I don't see it as quite that bad.

I can feel a commonsense post coming with a pat on the back and say how smart Ikeepitreal is.

i keep it real didnt you just say the same thing under the OUBOBCAT thread.. get a freaking life you sound like a never has been who has to hate to get happy. If what you read bothers you so much dont read it. I still think this team has the potential to get hot in febuary and march as we saw today (if you actually watch games instead of just follow scores online) Toledo has no size, Akron has no disipline, and Miami is as empty in the cupboard as we are. The MAC sucks and we have as good a chance as anyone to get hot for one week.

Do a leeeetle more research and you will find this is false. They have beaten D1 teams before.

It is, however, their first D1 win since they became D1.

The Bears (4-5) recorded their first win as an NCAA Division I program against a Division I team, placing five players in double figures and holding Bowling Green's star player Martin Samarco in check.[/quote]

Collegedropout,

I am going to respond to your thoughts of the other teams in the league and completely disagree with you. Miami took Illinois down to the wire on the road and barely lost to Michigan at home. Those games are a little tougher than Central Arkansas, Arkansas State, Furman, etc.... It does not matter that Akron has no discipline if that is what you believe because their talent level exceeds ours so much that it is not even funny. By the way they beat Oral Roberts on the road and if you guys remember that was the team that beat Kansas on the road to start the season. Toledo has been brutalized by an extremely difficult schedule and did play Kansas tough today at Kemper Arena. Lets be honest here guys this schedule we are playing is horrible and we are getting these teams at home. I am going to root for this team just as much as the next guy but I will also be first in line to buy a round of shots once this season is over because i will no longer have to see Dan Dakich head the sidelines as coach of the Bowling Green Falcons. I just wish people on here would get a reality check when they talk about great EVERY NEW PLAYER is. Its the same story with you guys as have been readin this site for a couple years now. The problem with our program is DD and the fact he has ran off almost two teams worth of guys. There is denying that.

"We are a far cry from the rest of the MAC"

That is a far cry from the truth.

First...I still like this team. I think that not having Marshall is going to be tough for this team. If we don't have a presence in the post, and his scoring down low, teams can really work on bottling up Samarco which is exactly what Central Arkansas did.

I think we bounce back this Saturday and beat Wright State. I just hope Sullivan or Polk can pick up the slack for Marshall.

If you think this team is going to struggle to win 10 games...I still think your crazy. Nate Miller will be a huge addition and Marshall will be back for the stretch run.

This is just like the Cleveland Cavaliers message board. One terrible shooting loss to a team that hung with St. Bonaventure and Old Miss, and all of a sudden BG won't win 10 games. That just lacks commonsense. Plenty of games left in the season.

Btw...Troy beat NIU. I guess that means Troy is still just a cupcake team?

Great post Swinger5. I wonder how other teams with their second leading scorer out did today. Not making excuses, just saying that this team can't afford for their top big man to go down for a month. We will "feel" the effects for sure---today was a perfect example. I don't think anyone "kept Samarco in check." He just missed his shots today.

Never said they would not win 10 games. I hope like hell they win 10 and more but in no way am I seeing how this team can win 18-20 games as was said by some people before today's game. I do think there is some talent on this team but in no way is DD the right man to be leading them. As I have said before he has ran off so many players that we could make two more teams with the amount of people he has ran off.

Unfortunately, it seemed to me today that DD is causing this team to fall apart much earlier than usual - it usually takes into the middle of the MAC season before they have no self esteem or confidence left.
It started last week when they got a win - looked good, could have been a little better defending - and he's saying he might have a practice after the game because they were so bad on defending. It was in the paper today he was unhappy with their play. When he started yelling, slamming his clip board, and swearing at them in the first half - they started playing bad and blaming each other.
We definitely missed Eric today - but there is a lot of young talent there. I emphasize YOUNG talent because NOBODY stays. Could we maybe have LaMonta take over now and see if we could salvage a team here????

Missed the game again today because my older son's game ran late. This afternoon after we lost I was telling my two boys about it and about the fact that Central Ark is in their first year of Div I basketball. My nine year old son said "Isn't this like losing to Temple in football". Yep, that about sums it up for me.

Yeah, that about sums it up. You have a very smart kid. Sounds like a future Bobcat in the making.
