On the road, at OU. This one is going to be tough. As long as we can keep it close....
After the 3 buzzer beaters this year, I really believe this team has confidence that they can win any game as long as they stay within striking distance.

OU 59

We're back at full strength, and we're an unknown quantity to the MAC. OU will be looking past us and over guarding Samarco. If they have any foul trouble at all, they're in trouble because their depth is nonexistent, while ours goes all the way down the bench. Maybe Polk will have his coming out tonight. He's ready to explode.

Since I suck at picking games, I'll go with "the pick against them and they'll win" philosophy:
BG 60
OU 70
GO BG!

I feel good about this one too, for some reason. I've not had good luck at the Convo, personally (Danny Nee once spit water on me... and I was stepped on Antonio's Sr. year when OU won in overtime and they rushed the court...) but I'm not going to be there, so that bad mojo will be in Elmore, not Athens!

I hope that we can win this one, but I'm not as confident as some of you.
OU 65
BG 57
OU is a solid team, but I don't see alot of growth potential from now until the end of the season. I see us being much better in March than we are right now. We'll get them in March, but not tonight.

This is a BIG game for this young squad. Can they go on the road and compete with one of the better teams in the conference? This is definitely one of the early tests to see what we've really got here.
I think we're competitive but end up a little short in the long run. We need a defensive post presence and I'm worried Polk finds himself in foul trouble. I think we fall a touch short in this game, but we're a better team than OU by tourney time.

Am I hinting some positiveness (if that's actually a word) from that post Hammb?????

I've been pretty positive about this season, I've thought. I was NOT one of the people claiming that we wouldn't win 10 games this year. I was one of the first ones to post after the preseason scrimmages that I liked the athliticism and potential growth of this team. Even going against a weak schedule they've done better than I expected and this was with Marschall out for a few weeks. I like the development we're seeing from Polk & Hamblet, along with the addition of Miller. I don't think I have ever been that negative about this team.
Just because I don't feel Dan is the greatest coach in the world, or perhaps even the right coach for this team, don't mistake that for blind negativity. This team has a lot going for it, and they're young, so I expect them to grow as the season goes on. They've also got the best scorer in the conference, who has shown a penchant for hitting the big shot, and (from what I saw at the scrimmages) is an amazing on the court leader. Why shouldn't I be somewhat positive about this team?
My sigline not withstanding, at one time I was a huge fan of Dan Dakich. I still don't dislike him, I just don't think this is the best place for him any longer. I've said numerous times that I think he lost the team when he returned from WVU, and that proliferated all the transfers. Perhaps all that bad blood is now gone from the team, I don't know. If it is I would not be against retaining him, but I still think we could do better. Our offensive scheme is maddening, his substitution patterns make absolutely no sense a lot of the time, and he has NEVER taught a team how to freakin' REBOUND. Still his teams play hard, and when he has athleticism (as they do this year) they can play some pretty good defense (as we have this year).
I may come off as a negative prick, but I assure you I'm not nearly as negative as you all make me out to be...now if you wanna talk football that's a different story. That is a program that seems to be circling the drain as we speak...
