Cincinnati wants a new arena. Maybe they can give us their current one since it's only 17 years old.

They're in the Big East so they don't really confront us. I just thought it was interesting, after reading so much about AA, to hear that UC needs something else now that it's been all of 17 years.

Wow, it's amazing their facility is still standing.

I have been to the Shoe many time for either UC or high school games, and many I know have said they don't like the arena, and most of that has to do with how the seating is set up. I say they should just redo the the arena part, make the seating better, and keep the building

If memory serves me correctly, the Shoe's seating is much like Dayton's and Toledo's where you have littile seating at the ends and many rows on the sides. The result is a lot of bad seats.

Centennial hall, as well as the JAR and the Rose, are great examples of what we don't want at BG. I tend to like what U of Detroit has. It is a "bowl" of about 8000. The Patriot Center at George Mason is another great midmajor facility.

Appalachian State has a very nice convo center...they're building some great looking football facilities. They'll be 1AA in name only. Boone, NC isn't all that far away...the MAC could do worse for expansion.

I agree, I am not a fan of the JAR, as for the Patriot Center, I agree of what I have seen of it on TV it is very nice

I still think Xavier's Cintas Center should serve as the model for a BG arena. Multi use - could put dorms in or a dining hall or a conference center.

Been to Cintas for some high school games, I agree it would be a good model

The gold standard for mid-major arenas in my opinion is the Wolstein Center at Cleveland State University. It seats 13,000 but you can roll up 3,000 of those seats for a smaller 10,000 seat facility. It has hosted two first round NCAA Tournaments and I am sure they are on the rotation for future tournaments.

The Vikings only get about 1,500 out for men's games...sound familar? But what a great facility. The arena is Kevin Mackey's legacy...that and cocaine.

It has some flaws, but it is a very nice arena. Have been there dozens of times. They currently curtain off about 1/3 of the place. They utilize the "concert" setup for basketball games. Video boards on two corners, large scoreboards on the others. No large scoreboard over the court. It's a big place built in part because they knew they could host other events there and make a buck.
