Decision already made?

Whoever does the layout for BG's athletic website seems to think so. Here's the new banner picture, seemingly a fond farewell:

I won't read anything into that. They have a couple of banners that cycle through, and I know I've seen that one for a while.

Been there since the re-design.

One pic must have been stuck in my cache. This is the first I've seen the Dakich pic.
Carry on.

Whatever decision Christopher makes, he'll need to act fast.
NIU's AD is looking to make a splash and might just run out Rob Judson after the disappointing year they had. Should both schools be in the market, they'll likely be choosing from the same general candidate pool, and I'd like BG to have first dibs.
If he decides to keep DD, you don't want to see him twisting in the wind for very long either as it sends the wrong message to recruits.

Agreed 100%
I respect DD enough that we should not leave him dangling. He needs to know where he stands ASAP. Let him go out and find another job, and we need to move forward with hiring a new coach. If we are going to retain DD, then get that done ASAP as well. Either way, I don't want us to dangle around undecided for a month or so. I expect the hiring process to begin immediately following our last game...whether that be negotiating a new contract with DD or lining up interviews with other candidates.

Great points.
But what if the guy we are looking for is on a team that makes a run in the playoffs. We will likely have our season be olver well before anyone who makes any kind of tourney run.

Don't forget, we'll need to ask Chryst's permission before we do anything.

Think we can hire Tubby Smith.

Lots of angst around here in Lexington, plus a good deal of speculation after a less then stellar letter of support from the AD today as well, saying that while the season has been disappointing, we should wait until after the tournament to make any decisions.

I could see DD doing a Blackney and submitting his resignation before the season was over.
If there is a break I think we owe it to him to have it done respectfully towards Dan and I think that Dan will be graceful whatever the decision is.

I like Dakich as a coach, but I just think that the whole program needs a change. I hate to see him go, but we have to get things turned around at BGSU! No more losing season!!! Save that for other schools who accept it.
It's a Done Deal

I heard a week ago - from a reliable source at the University that Dan has already been told that his contract is not being renewed and he should be looking for another job.

I am not sure there are many "reliable sources" in this athletic department administration!!

This reliable source was not from the Athletic Department Administration. Just an employee that happens to be around and friendly with people in the know - a much more reliable source. We'll all know pretty soon if they were right. They haven't let me down with the "inside scoop" before.

Yeah, except for two things:
Claiming you have a reliable source that says Coach won't be back isn't exactly the stuff that made Woodward and Bernstein.
Even if he isn't back, that won't demonstrate that he knows it now, which is unlikely to ever come out.
