When will the decision be made?

When do you guys think the decision will be made for Dakich? Any set dates?

Either way, as it's been said on here before, decide quickly so all parties can move on, whether that's recruiting or searching for another coach.

I loved coach when I dealt with him; was always a class act to some punk kid reporter.

Good luck either way, DD.

I won't steal her thunder, but Maureen has the answer to this question in her blog.

I'm reluctant to take this at face value. My belief is that the decision is already made, and that this "meeting" is a courtesy to Dakich. It is hard to see how a 2-way conversation between the two makes much sense. Although I'm surprised Christopher would not want to make the announcement asap (as EMU did with Milton Barnes), a good % of the candidates will still be involved in the post season for a while.

I'm gonna pull a 180 here...I think we should give him two more years.
I think the talent is there. I also think that the core of the team has bought into Dan as a coach and that's worth building on.

Shoot me...I'm fickle.

I agree and for more reasons than you just stated.

I don't know about two years, but I don't know that he's as gone as I figured four and a half days ago.

As I said in the chat room, I think it's time to move on, but I won't be jumping off a cliff if he's given a 1 or 2 year deal.

I've got it 10-1 he's gone.

I am with you, Flip. I do not think that is what will happen, but I think in 2 years we will be winning, and we'll be off the coaching merry go round for a while.

I wouldn't cry if he were given a new deal, but I don't think it's gonna happen. I'm ready to move on and bring in some new blood. I'm tired of the motion offense and I'm tired of being one of the least talented teams in the MAC.

Amen to that. I think the coach needs to do a 180.. I likewise am tired of the motionless offense and a one-dimensional coach. Part of any extension would be that he learn to coach the talent he has. Maybe take a page from coach Miller's book and ROTATE 7 players.

I would like to see Coach Dakich get another year with the guys that will be returning. I think we have the makings of a pretty solid team if we can get a true point guard and have a solid offseason of work. We have some solid players in Hamblet, Moten, Miller, Marschall, and Polk coming back. If he is not back, I wish Coach and his family the very best.

I agree that we have a good group of players returning. However, DD had all of those guys this year and went 13-18 against a weak schedule. Marcshall and Polk didn't develop. Moten, Clements, and Sims didn't make the progress I was hoping for either.

To the contrary of others on this board, I don't think we're anywhere near the least talented team in the MAC. As much as it pains me to repeat this, I think the problem is with the system, the offense in particular. This year, we had absolutely no offense chemistry whatsoever, and Samarco was permitted to take an absurd number of ill-advised shots.

If DD does get an extension, hopefully it will be based on the condition that he revamps his offensive philosophy from the ground up. His player development needs improvement as well.

As cool as this would be, I think we all know it doesn't work that way.

Yeah, you're right. I guess that's why the idea of a meeting btw DD & Christopher "to see if he has a future at BGSU" doesn't quite sound right.
