Grant came up with a very strong argument against a 1 year deal that changed my mind. Either give Coach D a multi year deal or let him go. Give the man the respect he deserves about his employment status.

Only until somebody responded to it - and what makes you think it was a joke???? I, for one of many, hope he's gone. Enough is enough. There is no other coach that the staff that COULD ride on the bus free - buys their own gas just so they don't have to listen to his fits ( whether we win or lose). I'll bet Bobby Knight is getting sick and tired of being blaimed for the kind of coach he is. Yes, he knows basketball - No, he doesn't know how to create a TEAM. If his players get mad at each other and physically fight, he doesn't break it up. How sick is that???? That will create that team concept. Let someone beat the crap out of a teammate!!!!!

That doesn't mean you have to be a dick to anybody with an opinion that differs from your own. Knock it off.

Well I wish DD would be given 1 more year to see what he can to with this team. After that, I'll agree with everyone else that he needs to go. And this is not DD or Bill Wammas nor have I eaten any of Wammas' world famous cheeseburgers!

Let me share this story with you:

Mateen Cleeves was Tom Izzo's boy. One day before practice, AJ Granger was sitting on a chair putting his shoes on. Izzo tells Mateen "AJ's needs to get tougher. Why don't you go punch him in the face to toughen him up." Cleeves walks over to Granger and cold cocks him.

Suffice it to say that college age kids going after each other and the coach letting it go is not that unusual.

Bobby isn't all that innocent in these situations either. One instance in particular involved Michael Lewis and Luke Recker. Lewis showed up to campus with his hometown girlfriend and all was good in the world. That is until she met Recker. Recker then reminded Lewis during a scrimmage that his girlfriend put up more of a fight when trying to score with her than Lewis did and Lewis dropped the ball and decked Recker. The two went at it in practice and Bobby let them go. After practice, he had a meeting with the two of them and asked which one would be leaving. It turns out, Recker ended up at Iowa and the said girlfriend happened to be the one who was injured badly in the Colorado car wreck with him.

These things happen more times than you would want to know.

Totally agreed. Reminds of some poker books that I read. Either raise or fold. Never call. It's a passive/weak play. In Dakich's case, it's probably time for a fold.

Apparently it didn't work, because I can't imagine Granger not finding the opportunity some point later to break a few of Mateen's bones.

There's a school of thought that says you should let them get it out of their system. Let them go and let them get it settled. Of course, that assumes you haven't recruited some kind of whack job lthat lacks an "off" switch. Contrary to popula ropinion, people don't always fight to maim or injure each other. Unless you are literally fighting for your life, most people will hold off on trying to go nuclear on the other guy...it's not a consious decision to hold off...it's just something that happens.

Unless you're a whack job with no "off" switch.

If you keep getting between them...they'll just get madder and inevitably, other peole will get involved.
