Pete Guillen would be a greeat get for them. If not them...I would love to see him at BG. Known in coaching circles a great recruiter.

No matter what, BG should do this quickly. The clock is ticking on recruiting.

They might be waiting until after the women's tournament to announce the hiring of Curt Miller.

Former Colorado coach Ricardo Patton will be the new coach at NIU. Check out the terminology used in the last sentence in this article.

Did you really think any writer would report it otherwise. Big deal.

"Bowling Green is also looking for a coach after firing Dan Dakich."

Well, I think "fired" is at least fourth on my list of describing the situation. One - "not renewed" Two - "Dakich did not seek an extension" Third - "was let go after his contract expired"

FWIW, Patton coached this season at Colorado while in the last year of his contract. Before the season, he announced he would not seek an extension. There are some parrallels to how Dakich left BG. Katz doesn't say Patton was fired, he says "finished an 11 year career". Katz could have said "Bowling Green is also looking for a coach after Dan Dakich finished a ten year career there."

I would think any reporter who is obligated to print facts would report it otherwise. Dan wasn't fired.

You're right about it not being a big deal.

For those who wondered why it was important to initiate our search immediately if a search was going to occur, this is precisely the reason. We're competing with other regional schools for candidates and every day counts.

NIU obviously thinks he can open new doors for them in the recruiting wars, and that's what it's all about, but it's still a very questionable hire. Judson was as well connected as anyone in the country to the Illinois basketball scene and I can't imagine Patton being that much better.

(Just as a side note, the Chicago Tribune reported that NIU received 500 applications for the position. BG should get a similar response.)

"We are committed to finding the right person for our student-athletes and program," Christopher said. "We will begin the extensive research and background process immediately. There is no set timeline, as finding the right fit is more important than any deadline."

Christopher will have no further comment until the search process is completed.
