I think that BG is a great job for someone that wants to come in and put in the work. While the fanbase is fickle, it's proven that it wants, and will support heavily, a winner, and maybe even a perceived winner. When/if they get around to a new building or an overhaul of AA, it's even better.

As good a job as a lot of us perceive BG to be, we aren't going to attract a lot of top candidates in any sport if we don't find a way to raise our pay scale. It makes it hard to keep 'em, too. Hopefully Christopher can just find us a good coach, and keep him as long as we can afford to.

Having said that, if a coach were to come in and lead us to the NCAA tournament, said coach knows he would be in very good shape with the fans. The bar is pretty low here right now. The cupboard isn't exactly bare here, either. With the right scheme and a point guard, we could compete pretty soon. This job has plenty of pros to go along with the more obvious cons.

A company has been hired to begin the planning stages of a new basketball arena that may, or may not, double as an ice arena. Plans are already underway for the demolition of the Saddelmire building and there is also talk of using the enormous amount of land next to the Field House(sorry FMB). If you look on bgsu.edu you may be able to find what is known as "The Master Plan" and I assure you no one was channeling Hitler when it was created.

We will not see a new hoops facility at BG in my lifetime.

I'd pass on Stan Heath even if he wanted the BG job. He hasn't impressed me and the Elite 8 team at Kent a few years ago was Gary Waters' team anyway. Jim Christian has done an outstanding job as Kent's HC.

BTW, wasn't Dan Hipsher on Heath's staff at Arkansas? If so, I wonder what will happen to him.

Not to continue to feed this ridiculously anti-BG troll who pops up every now and then with the same bunk, but to reinforce transfer's excellent point: if a former Big East Coach of the Year with a winning record is interested in a "bad job," I'd like to see a good one.

Anyone who has lived in the BG community, met the people and felt the excitement of Anderson Arena knows what type of job this is. Ask Curt Miller (or Dan Dakich, circa 2002) what type of job this can be when you don't lose 1/3 of your roster every year.
