It didn't exactly make my morning.

I thought it was a pretty good article. I like Ron Lewis a lot as a player, and he went where he could be happy...I don't see how anyone can fault him for that. I still hope he loses to Georgetown so I can win my office pool though

"I like the system, the spread of the offense and how they distribute,” Lewis told reporters in 2005. “They play together and they run the floor a lot. Nobody’s clogged up. I like that style of basketball.”


Hmm...interesting. Maybe this is why alot of kids bolt from here after a year. This is not shocking at all. It comments like this that make me question whether the "great" Chris Knight will ever play here.

I agree. I have no ill will towards the guy. He never seemed to be much of a problem at OSU so I'm just led to believe that this wasn't the place for him, though I wish it would have been.

You know this is a great paper when you're able to print "busting each other’s balls..."

Why should anyone have any ill words towards him. He did what he needed to do for him and his family, because he has put himself in a spot, with his play in the tournament, to possibly get drafted. SOmething he would never be able to accomplish here. Is it just me or is the way he shoots and the way he plays remind you of Michael Redd? A former Buckeye? I think he turned out to be ok in the league. I hope for all the best for Ron and the buckeyes. of course, i say that now that my braket is killed.....haha

Ron Lewis isn't 1/10 the shooter Michael Redd is. Lewis has played extremely well in the tournament, and he has some big stones, but he doesn't do one thing good enough to make it in the NBA. He's a well rounded college player, but in the NBA, you have to excel at something to make it. Lewis is not a great shooter, and he won't be able to drive at will against NBA guards like he can in college. He's not a good enough passer or ballhandler to play the point, and he's not big or strong enough to play the 3. He also doesn't play much defense.

He's a very good college player, who has caught fire at the perfect time. He's talented, but he isn't going to make it in the NBA.

I don't think Ron Lewis has an NBA jumper, but I do think he's got NBA size for a SG, doesn't he? Isn't he like 6'3-6'4? He's certainly no PG, he doesn't have the ball handling or court awareness for that.

His jumpshot is definitely weak, but he can beat people off the dribble better even than McLeod could.

I think the real question is whether he'll start to work on his defense. McLeod was a good defender that was manned up against the opponent's best guard every night his senior year. If Ron can dedicate himself to working on defense I think he can stick as an NBA player. He certainly has the athletic ability. He'll never be Michael Redd, but I see no reason he could not be a McLeod or Ira Newble...somebody that sticks around as a depth roster spot.

McLeod and Newble both have niches. Newble is a long 2-3 that can defend the more athletic 3s in the league off the bench. McLeod had to go play in Europe to become a PG to sniff the league, and he still only gets garbage minutes. Lewis has looked a lot better than he is the last couple weeks. I don't think Lewis will be able to drive at will against NBA guards. That's his strength, and I don't think it translates to the NBA game. He's a poor shooter, a poor defender, an average passer, and he doesn't have great basketball I.Q. He's a college slasher, and he hits big shots. That's not enough to make it in the NBA where his athleticism will only be average, especially in a class as deep as this one.

Maybe if he goes overseas, develops a jumper, and dedicates himself to defense, he could turn into an energy guy off the bench. That's a big maybe though.

I think sville was just comparing his shooting motion to Redd's (bringing it way back behind his head, but not as far as good ole World B. Free used to do it).

Plenty people do. I don't but many do.
