Announcement soon?

OK, at what point is it reasonable to expect an announcement? It's 4/2. DD formally resigned on 3/13, and the AD, I'd imagine, might have foreseen the opening and gotten a head start on his candidate list. Anybody who is interested would've applied by now. NIU announced very quickly. What do you suppose is the hold up? This seems to be taking a long time, and the spring signing period is less than a week away.

I think we would hear about guys being interviewed if it was down to a candidate or two. We have heard about one, Orr, and thats it. Names have been bandied about here but nothing official.

We're in a bidding war with Michigan's women's team for Curt Miller.

That could drag on for quite a while. We should know by June.

It won't be Orr! He has talked to the AD but is out.

A lot of the interviewing is said to be done at the Final Four events for a lot of jobs. I am somewhat surprised that we haven't announced yet, but that is encouraging from the standpoint that we aren't rushing either, but we need to get to that point quickly.

I think we're just being respectful to Florida and will be making our offer to Billy Donovan after tonight's game.

I agree Option. I think a lot of the openings get filled in the next couple of days. Meaning the hot candidates will be taking positions elsewhere if we aren't prepared to make an offer. I'm hoping we get someone yet this week.

Isn't there an Ohio State assistant whose name has been mentioned? Do you think Mr. Christopher is waiting for OSU's season to finish to interview him and then make a decision? There have been a couple announcements today (Arkansas and South Florida) and that could cause a trickle down effect of hirings, I would think. I can't imagine this will go on for much more than another week before we have an announcement, at least I hope not.

I would think we would know more atleast about who has interviewed. Everything seems eerily quiet.

The Arkansas hiring affects our trickle much more than the S. Florida, I'd think, opening a mid-major job at Creighton.

Of course, it's just broke that Butler's Todd Lickliter is headed to Iowa, so there's another mid-major type looking for a coach, and a little closer to home. If, say, Cuonzo Martin is on our radar, I'd think he might be on Butler's, too, and they'd probably be able to pay a bit more, with a built in higher profile and a helluva team coming back next year.

Well, when the announcement came out about Coach Dakich, Christopher said something to the effect that "this is the last you are going to hear about it until I pick the next coach." So, when people keep quiet, there isn't going to be much information.

This is especially true when interviews aren't even taking place on campus.

As for the timing, I guess I would expect something next week. But I wouldn't be surprised if it took a little longer, either. We don't want to take the wrong guy just because we're afraid someone else will take him first.

on the HR website of BG, under employment then Administrative Staff Job Status Report, it says for Head Coach:
Review of applications began on March 30, 2007 and will continue until the position is filled, then says: Reviewing and accepting applications

so maybe they just offical started reviewing applications a few days ago
