Dear Coach, a guide to BGSU basketball

1. If you win 1/2 your games in the first season you'll be a good coach
2. If one of those wins is against Toledo, you'll be a GREAT coach
3. If we make the MAC tournament finals in the second year you'll be a
good coach, but see #2

You may cry like a litte girl if we win in basketball, but not if we lose.

Anderson Arena is built in the middle of swamp land. It's a swamp.
But it's OUR swamp.

You'll need a point guard. You might want to find a shooting guard and a Center.

The guys aren't going to know how to act if you're kind to them...nah let's not go there.

If the administration trots out drawings of a Convo center just smile. If you notice those drawings are years old. The money went into the Student Union (because Mr. Bowen and Ms. Thompson gave more seed money) and the Sebo center because the Sebo's did likewise. Be nice to the hockey coach, he might rip your heart out and get an ice arena upgrade in front of you.

When it comes time to look for housing, try to stay close to the city. I'm not saying Wood County is rural, but our septic tank drains into an open ditch....Gives clear meaning to the BLACK swamp eh?

Welcome to BGSU. I'm looking forward to the 2007 season.

Don't forget that if you lose, people will write local newspapers, asking for the women's coach to take over the men's team.

Now you are just making s**t up. How about this... Student Center... which was more desperately needed than Anderson Arena, and secondly it served the entire university on a daily basis, the same could not be said for a new arena however much it is needed.

I knew that. I read all the arguements for the Student Union before the remodel. The point was it was still done before the Convo. Honest, I get past Memorial Hall.

While I agree with much of your post, I feel the need to point out factual errors in this statement. Mr. Robert Thompson and Mrs. Ellen Thompson (nee Bowen) made their donation when the building was nearly complete, after thwy sold their asphalt paving business and divided up the proceeds among its employees. The Union's building was financed primarily through public funds (bonds and money from students' general fee). $6 M came from private donations. $3 M of that from the Thompsons, and the other $3 M from corporations, the BGSU Family fund drive, alumni, etc.

Edit: Read all about it on the BTSU history page.

Don't forget all the naive people that will take every successful coach in a 50 mile radius and say he should be the next coach!! Niekamp....Come on!! Sorry. I'm still laughing at that one even though we already named the head coach.
