Jeff Jordan to play for Illinois

Post by JimmyZ11381 »

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Jeffrey Jordan, the son of Michael Jordan, plans to attend Illinois next year and play basketball as a walk-on.
Jordan, a 6-2 guard at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Ill., said in a news release Friday he chose Illinois over Valparaiso.

"After I worked out at Illinois, (met) with the coaching staff and the players, and toured the campus with my mom, I just felt more comfortable with U of I," he said.

Jordan was a three-year starter at Loyola Academy and two-year All Catholic League player.

He told Illinois coach Bruce Weber of his plans on Wednesday. NCAA rules bar Weber or his staff from commenting on walk-on players before they enroll.

As a walk-on, Jordan will not sign a letter of intent, meaning his commitment is nonbinding.

I posted this because I know he was mentioned a few time on this board. So now we have clarification.

Oy. Talk about a kid whom it will be impossible to avoid living in his fathers shadow. I hope the kid does well though, I'm very sure he'll be treated well playing in Ill. As if Jordan wasn't already treated as a living God in that region, surly his son will be afforded positive attention.

I'm getting the feeling he'll be a grey shirt, would that be a fair guess?

Fair to say his dad coming to see any single game, or dropping a few bucks at the booster club will ensure a wee bit of playing time.

Having Jordan on team jerseys, thats worth a bit too.

Having Jordan and his dad's old 23 is worth even more.

The word from 80 miles outside of Chicago is this is only a set up for the main event. The older of the two is reportedly not as good as the younger. Having an older brother at Illinois may help in the recruiting process 2 years down the road.

Are you saying he'll transfer?

Good one!

(I was wrong anyway -- said he'd go to Loyola.)

Yea Having Jeff there will def. help if coach weber chooses to recruit the younger brother. The only problem is that they are both bad basketball players I am so glad that we here at BG didn't waste a scholarship on Jeff, it would have been a bad way to start the restructuring of our program. I have seen him play on the AAU circuit and HE IS NOT A SCHOLARSHIP DIVISION I BALLPLAYER

No...he isn't going to transfer...like...DUH!

I'm talking about the impending announcement from Michael that he's a woman trapped in a man's body. He's going to undergo a sex change operation and sue the NCAA to resotre his remaining eligibility.

She will then sign an LOI to play for Curt Miller

Michaela should be ready to join Niki McCoy on the floor in 2008. The Falcons wil have the greatest back court in Women's basketbal history.

Flipper, you must have read this article to come up with that story.

Are you trying to tell me that Jesus Christ can't hit a curve ball?*

* - Sorry. Your question was far too tangentially related to Pedro Serrano. I couldn't resist.
