Dan Dakich again on Anderson's Floor.......
DD was on 1470 the ticket yesterday with Norm, talking about IU stuff , taking time off and generally joking around as usual. Norm joked about how quickly IU is now now getting a new b-ball arena since DD was hired. Dan proceeded to basically say that it was like pulling teeth to get anything done as simple as getting new paint job put up somewhere. After that he brought up the floor at AA and how it is indeed way too hard and he appeared to be amused/bewildered at the lack of trust in his statements "some" have. Pretty odd for DD to bring this up if it was nothing.
There are people here who say they loved DD so much or respected the man yet scoffed at his assertion that the surface underneath the hardwood floor at AA is indeed a hard concrete and virtually everyone else is not playing on that kind of surface. I have a mind to e-mail DD himself and ask his thoughts on the matter a little more deeply if I knew how to contact him. So before we scoff the man's statements , we must ask do you all really respect him at least a little not to drudge up a complete and total fabrication about our beloved AA's floor?

I am sure while the AD studies the issue of renovation or building of a basketball arena that it would be best to dig up Jimmy and all that concrete to install a new floor that will be completely destroyed or abandoned in, hopefully, the next 3-5 years. Sound investments
like this will build confidence in the AD, the Ath. Dept. and BGSU creating an environment of financial support.
Best deal would be DD removes the old floor at Assembly Hall and sends it UPS from Bloomington to BGSU (now that is what Brown & DD can DO FOR YOU).

I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
Curt Miller was on 1470 earlier in the year and scoffed at the notion that the floor was "too hard". He basically said, "All due respect to Dan, he's a great coach, but we're quite happy with Anderson Arena."
It's funny how those attitudes differ when you're winning, eh?
I like Dan, I respect him, I think he'll be a good coach again someday. I don't for a minute think the floor is the reason we've struggled over the years.

The volleyball program has had some pretty good success on that floor, they jump and dive on the floor as much as basketball.
And Falconboy, my sarcasm was directed more towards your last sentence, which, even upon a 3rd and 4th read, I couldn't make heads or tails of.
I don't doubt Anderson Arena has a sub-par floor to what's out there and available now, however, I don't believe we need a new floor, nor do I believe it is detrimental to our program to continue practicing and playing on the current floor.

I like Dakich, but towards the end of his tenure he seemed quick to make excuses to rationalize and justify the slide the program had taken.
I guess after you're at a place 10 years, you start to notice the warts more. The fact that's he's still publicly lamenting the condition of the floor and how others didn't listen to his pleas seems like a convienent way to detract attention from his own shortcomings regarding program management and player retention.
I don't hear Paul Krebs going on radio shows saying "Well, if we didn't turn over half the roster every year, we could have won more games that would have inspired people to donate money to fund new projects."
Curt Miller has the right attitude and it sounds like Louis Orr does too.
