Hmmm...that gives us like 25 or so kids on scholarship for next year. That's a few too many, right?

Starts to make you wonder about the status of some of our previous scholarship players, no?

Give us some-I don't think we have enough to run a practice at the present time.

I think this is Dakich related. Afterall, kids leave, that happens, according to Dan. So Coach Orr is being proactive and over recruiting so he has replacements in place for those that leave. Dan waited until after the season and all the good players were committed to other schools before realizing kids were leaving.

The leading scorer from Country Day, the state championship team? This sounds like an excellent land.
Well, here's how I'm piecing it togethor: Scott Thomas will take the one known 08-09 scholarship vacancy now held by Ryne Hamblet. Austin Calhoun, due to academic difficulties, would not consume an 08-09 scholarship but will set the MAC on fire in 09-10. So, if Dee Brown takes an 08-09 scholarship, there is one unknown guy who we all think will be on an 08-09 scholarship that won't be. Otherwise, we have 14 08-09 commts.
We know that Brian Guerin has had some trouble. We haven't heard about anyone else.

Why would they even sign Calhoun if they already know he is ineligible? And doesn't he have an entire year to get eligible?
But, if that was the case, the scholarships would be fine. There are 12 people on the roster now, 11 returning next year.

If Calhoun is not coming, then 2 guys will fill the roster to the allowed 13.

Hey, whatever the hell happened to Shane Ross? He was the 2nd best 4-man coming out of Michigan and barely got off of you height-depleted bench. Seemed very strange to me.

1) Well, why did we sign Chris Knight when we knew he wouldn't be eligbile? Because he's an excellent player and worth the wait.
2) Actually, Guerin is presumed be returning, which makes 12 returning next year.

Chris Knight was not a November signee. He was a guy picked up late, just like a lot of Dakich's guys the past few years.
November signees should at least have a chance to be eligible, IMHO.
And maybe Guerin will be back, but not on scholarship.

He appeared to have been kind of lovesick last year. His GF was the three point shot and she didn't reciprocate. When he started bulling people in the post toward the end of the year he got some more PT. Seemed pretty athletic-not sure what he did to get kicked off team but I think Stan learned his lesson about bad actors and maybe attitude palyed a role in his lack of floor time last year. We'll miss his size and athleticism inside though. Jarrah Young is pretty much a stiff and a couple big frosh did not make it yet-probably not at all.

Here is the blurb from the Toledo Blade:

At the end, it does say this is likely the last piece of the recruiting class.

As a junior, this kid led a state championship team in scoring. Gotta love that.
