He will never have to worry about being fired for recruiting too many Ohio and Chicago players at BG. The biggest issue they had with him is an asset here.

You never know what actually goes down in these situations considering Dakich is still telling people he wasn't fired and chose to leave, but it seems like the Seton Hall AD handled the situation poorly. It's funny, because a recent ESPN article quoted the new Seton Hall coach as saying that he "might not get the McDonalds All-Americans," something that was precisely the rationale for firing a winning coach and hiring him in the first place.

You know what they say one man's trash is another man's treasure. Seton Hall to me was never a real powerhouse when it came to basketball. They some good years don't get me wrong, but when you talk about great teams of the recent past Seton Hall doesn't pop up. I am glad that we have Coach Orr and he will build BG in the way he wants. He doesn't have to worry about living up to the expectations of the Big East, he can take his time and get his system installed. Thanks alot Seton Hall!!!!!

Right. I was shocked to go on their message boards and see almost all of their fans wishing him well and lamenting the fact that he was let go after an NCAA Tournament season.

This was a classic case of a pig-headed athletic director wanting to make a change for the sake of change and get his own personal pick in the door. Most basketball people acknowledge that their expectations are completely unrealistic.
