So, what's everyone think? Will we hear anything concrete (pardon the pun) this go-round, or will the new arena talk fade as it always has in the past??

Someone is probably close to the process and can offer facts. However, until I actually the earth movers, I'll default to my usual "We'll never see a new arena in our lifetimes."

Something tells me the university will continue to hedge on this and conduct another study. Then again, perhaps they finally realized that something had to be done. Realistically, we're looking at a long fundraising campaign before construction can even begin. Of course we started the Sebo Center before funding was completely secure, so who knows. However it plays out, I'm anxious to hear what they tell us, hopefully not another feasibility study.

Critically thinking something needs to be done soon, Anderson is in bad shape. Especially with only having one lousy restroom. Not to mention the roof leaking and water being caught in buckets above our heads. The place is really run down, as much as I love it; still I do hope they keep the student seating on the floor. Eventually we'll get back to our glory and a new arena rocking like Anderson used to would be amazing. Realistically, though, I'm not expecting much in the way of announcements any time soon.

Well, IF (huge if) this does, I will provide all the feedback from the detractors located on this site:

*The location sucks and will hurt attendance.
*The name sucks.
*It's doesn't include [fill in favorite sport here] so that means Christopher doesn't care about the [fill in favorite sport here] program.
*This is BS, Anderson was the best home court advantage in the nation.
*I wouldn't have designed it like this (this one is for you tech!)
*It looks like a high school gym from the sky.
*That's great, how about some new equipment for the Ice Arena.

Feel free to add to the list.

Before making too many comments, is there a date when we are actually supposed to hear something from the last study?

I think it's come and gone... that's kind of why I brought this up... AGAIN....

To add to Flipper's analogy though.... even Southwyck is getting a facelift....

The last I heard is that they were doing a "study" to study the the old study, that superceded the study that was done to study the study, that was done a few years ago!!

Bring in the FREAKIN bulldozers and LET'S GO!!!!!

.........but the latest study, has been held up, because they are studying the effects of MAC football scheduling on global warming, before they can make a decision on whether they should build a building or dig a hole. Of course they could fill the hole with water and freeze it in the winter, if global warming can be delayed, and use it as a second sheet of ice, but that might delay a study on what to do with the Ice Arena. :-D :wink

Al Gore has been brought in to consult!

YUP. And by the time they are done with all this s**t, their work will be stale and they'll need another study.

So, what does it mean if they've officially completed a study and have yet to announce anything?
