Falcons lose

Post by daytonfalcon »

63-60...
Looks like WC's 3 point shooting (43%) and us giving up so many offensive boards were the difference. I didn't get to go since my wife had to work late...maybe tomorrow or Sunday night.

Good effort by the falcons, although they did go down. Chris knight led the team with 17pts. we should see how they play vs Belmont at 4pm, tomorrow,

I was at the game and I was real impressed with the effort and energy to make a comeback at the end. It was a see-saw battle and there were a lot of missed opportunities. But those can be corrected as the season progresses. The referees made some really bogus calls as well. Coach Orr said "bad call ref" and received a technical foul. Then some of the guys on the bench were standing and cheering and the ref told them to sit down! I didn't know that was against the rules. Hamblet and Nate were kind of flat with their jump shots, but Nate started scoring when he took the ball to the basket. Chris did good, I know there are some shots he would like to have back, but you can cry over spilled milk. The offense showed some signs of being outstanding once everyone gels by mid-season. We also need to work on our rebounding. Overall good effort.

Yeah, we had our chances, it's tough to lose close ones like this when you had a shot to pull it out. Hopefully we can bounce back tomorrow.

P.S. We need to stop playing in tournaments against Western Carolina. That's twice in the last two years they've beaten us in an early season tournament.

Man. if that is the standard for T's, Dakich wouldn't have made it out of one game. If they're honestly that sensetive, they should find another profession. I hate when officials try to make it about them and suck the passion and life out of the teams.

What I gathered from the broadcast from WBGU:

- Otis was dominant at times on the offensive and defensive ends. If we can keep him out of foul trouble, he could be a beast in the MAC.

- Chris Knight had a solid double, double in his first game as a Falcon. It seemed like his name was constantly called, making a play everywhere.

- Nate Miller got it going late in the game going to the basket. Bad shooting overall, but I think he started 1 for 10. And, he made his FTs.

- I am pretty optimistic after the game. We got NOTHING from our guards and still had a shot to win the game. The backcourt guys will develop throughout the year and this should be a solid team. Hopefully Moten gets some more PT. I am hoping that he has a breakout year, but he only got 9 minutes today.

I believe that's the "rule of the year" they're trying to enforce. Absolutely zero tolerance from the coaches. Bob Knight may not make it to a single 16 minute media timeout...

If that's all coach Orr said, then the NCAA has gone way overboard. The refs already have big heads. they should just call the game and be invisible. I'm so tired of refs (who used to be high school athletes and still want to be the BMOC) thinking they are more important than the game.

This season the refs even receive incentives for giving out Technicals. I am sure there is a story somewhere but I don't feel like finding it.

Thats just irrational , nonsensical and comical. The NCAA needs to get a grip.
