A thousand apologies if this is elsewhere, but does anyone know why Ryne Hamblet didn't play today.

Violation of team rules. Has been suspended indefinitely.

Per some material in The Blade:

It looks like BG will be without Ryne Hamblet for what could be a long time. Orr suspended BG’s only senior for violating a team rule. I hate to speculate, so I won’t. But it doesn’t look good. “It’s something that’s going to take some time to see how things work out,” Orr said. “It’s unfortunate, but we’re trying to lay the foundation and we need everybody on the same page.”

Senior Ryne Hamblet has been suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules. He is nowhere in the building, and I know this because there’s about 26 people here. I’m sure we’ll learn more within the next few days. Hamblet is averaging 12.6 points per game. Bad, bad news for the Falcons.

Alright, what could be so important to Hamblet that he can't stay in line during his senior year, keep his scholie, continue having a good year, and graduate? Is going to class and staying eligible too much all of a sudden? Or, is it too much to stay out of the bars until May 7th? Maybe, after all of this time playing ball, it's time to slack off during the workouts? In the middle of his damned senior year, he gets suspended! He can fade away, not finish his senior, leave and with a no-class, malcontent reputation. This crap will go over well with prospective European teams and employers. Hey Hamblet, nice work! Winner!

Here at BG, we have undoubtedly had some very stupid f'rs come through our basketball program. Hamblet looks like yet another.

Unless you know the reason(s) for him being suspended, it's not fair to him or anyone else with the team to speculate.

Strictly speaking, you're right. However, what on earth could it possibly be? Why now? And why nobody else?

Sweet mother of Jeebus lighten the f*ck up...for all you know the kid got some terrible life altering news that caused him to make some Godawful mistake...or maybe he became despondent over troubles Britney Spears is experiencing and that made him too depressed to bath or follow any other societal or team rules. Maybe he got hit in the head by a chunk of falling ice and that made him think he was Kasheeeef Payne...or Keith Triplett...or to be fair to H2Oville...Trent Jackson.

The point is...we don't know anything and making wide ranging value judgements about someone based on no real knowledge is worse than UnAmerican...it's the kind of thing network newspeople do...who the hell wants to emulate THAT?

It's grades.

For shame. Hopefully he can turn the situation around on the academic side and get on track to graduate.
