Alright HennyPenny, what was the train of thought that motivated THIS one?

Look, we're 4-6. We just lost on the road by 5 at Indiana State. We lost to a rather good Iil. State team by 10. We've won a few, including road games. Why are you worried about not beating this horrible Eastern Ill. team? Why would you think we could go winless the rest of the season. Ugh! Such silly, baseless negativity! Step off, relax, take some deep breaths, and get ahold of yourself.

I'm not saying we'll lose this game, I'm saying we "should" win this game because right now, EIU is the bottom of the barrel. We’re at home, they haven’t beaten a D-I team, they’ve lost 10 consecutive games, they are 0-6 on the road and they are last in the entire country in the RPI. Should we win? Yeah, we had better. But honestly, win or lose this game and the next against Duquesne, we’ve really got our work cut out for us in the MAC. But that’s another story. So, to phrase it in a way you might understand, “Step off, relax, take some deep breaths, and get a hold of yourself.” You missed the point.

Listen sonny, when you were in diapers I was raising hell in the student section. When I began following Falcon basketball, the stuff you call "classic rock" was hitting the airwaves for the first time. I can remember not having glass backboards and not having the giant scoreboard hanging in the middle of AA.

A little perspective, please? We're NO-WHERE near any low points for Falcon basketball. You ladies are getting rather carried away.

For me, my all time low point at AA was losing at home by double figures to Findlay. I remember the sense of resignation that seemed to eminate from our players during the second half of that game. That was 'round 1985 or so.

Don't take this the wrong way....but if we were to play Findlay they would beat us by double figures. This team doesn't have enough talent right now to compete at a high level. I think Orr will turn it around but as a team they are flat out undermanned. If we were to lose to the worst team in the country RPI wise, I can't see how that wouldn't hit a new low.

The only problem with this assumption is that they've already competed and succeeded at a decently high level. They defeated Cincinnati, and while they're usually likened around here to somewhere between the Washington Generals and the Elmwood JV team, they almost beat a ranked Xavier at Xavier and hung with #2 Memphis for an entire game. It shows we have the potential when things are clicking.

I'm not optimistic by nature, but I'm a regular pollyanna compared with the incessant negativity and doomsday thinking that peravdes some quarters of Falcondom.

+1 with BleedOrange about keeping things in perspective as well.

Wins this year are just little bonus prizes to make us all feel warm and fuzzy inside. Once Orr has his players and his system in place, then we can start evaluating this program.

Exactly. Thats why I'm perfectly content to right off this year as a rebuilding, restructuring, whatever you wanna call it year. Its definitely not what I was initially hoping for but it is what it is and I've already come to terms with it.

That's my point exactly. Why not get Madlock some playing time if wins aren't important? Don't pull a "John Cooper" and play seniors because you feel you need to win few more games this year.

I'd rather go 8-20 and get some younger guys some PT than go 12-16 and having them waste a year of experience.

That having been said, I totally agree with you. I would rather see guys like Madlock and Matt Karaffa get some PT this year, even if it means sacrificing a win here or there.
