Do we even stand a chance against Ohio?

OU is just loaded again this year. Leon Williams is averaging a double-double (16.9 ppg, 10.1 rpg) while Jerome Tillman is right behind him (14.4 ppg, 7.5 rpg). Shooting guard Bubba Walthers is averaging about 12 ppg and has range to about 30 feet out. Coach Orr’s nephew, Justin Orr, a Murray State transfer, is fourth on their team in scoring with 10.1 ppg. Too bad Orr didn’t land the coaching job at BG a year earlier, we might have had a shot at landing him. They also have a group of JUCO’s who are contributing. Heck, they even have a walk-on in Andrew Vroman from Bowling Green, Ohio.
We’ve lost five in a row to the Bobcats including the last couple at Anderson Arena. Last year Ohio swept us three games to none as we lost at home, away and at The Q. Our loss at home was by 25 point (88-63). That was with guys like Samarco, Hamblet and Marschall and OU’s big men fouling Polk out in seven minutes.
With losing streaks to MAC foes such as WMU (8 games), Ohio (5 games) and Akron (5 games) or being just being dominating over the haul such as losing 16 of the last 20 to Kent State (including six in a row at home), losing 11 of the last 15 to Toledo, or losing five of the last seven to Miami, I just do not see how anything is going to change for the better this season with the way we’ve played this far coupled with the players we’ve lost by injury, academics or transferring.
Like it or not, the MAC season is here, and sadly, we’re likely in for another long, long season. Until we start reloading like teams like Kent State, Ohio, Akron and Miami, and stop rebuilding like we have been for the last five years or so, we’re going to continue bringing up the rear in the MAC. If we even flirt with anything close to a .500 record in the MAC, Coach Orr is my vote for MAC Coach of the Year – bar none.
That said, buckle up, because the bumpy ride begins this Saturday. OU has won seven of its last nine and looks again to be a MAC contender and I don’t see us stopping them. It also looks like the Bobcats are planning on putting the “Green” in BG this weekend too. With some of the crowds (or lack thereof) that I’ve seen in a couple games I've been to this year, they’ll probably have no trouble doing it:

Thanks! Reading your "we suck" posts remind me that we've got a game in two days, and saves me the time it would take to look up the schedule.

Jeeez...................maybe we should just cancel the rest of the season, yank all the scholarships, and start over!
I too, am just a little, tired of all of this negativity. Grow a set, SHOW UP to the games, and watch this team improve as the season progresses!

Agreed....This team will improve as the season progresses and although I wasn't able to make the Duquesne game because I was sick...it looked as if that game was an improvement. We hung in there and shot a pretty darn good field goal percentage against one of the better teams we've played all year. It appeared as though, what ultimately did us in was the turnovers.
Will we beat OU....I would say probably not. But I'll be there. Because if we shoot the ball well again, and cut down on the turnovers....WE JUST MIGHT WIN.

What's it matter to you..... you have to work Saturday nights.
I forecast a win..... because at this moment Nicholas and I (and Mrs. Tech) will be at the game. And the Hockey game later.
AND NO I'M NOT GOING TO BE WEARING MY MIAMI SHIRT!!!! I will be in my BG threads.

Can we win? Sure.
Will we win? Probably not.
Am I going to moan about how poor our chances are? Nope.
I think it is quite likely that Duquesne is a better team than OU. I know OU is a good team, but that Duquesne team was quick as all get out, and their pressing style definitely didn't help with our inexperienced PG. Drop those 24 TOs down to 17 or so and we might've been right in that game till the very end. It wasn't nearly as lopsided as the final score would make it look.
Saturday is no different. We need a repeat performance from the big fella. What I saw Wednesday was remarkable and it gives me the feeling that any game that OP stays out of foul trouble we can compete & win. There are very few college teams that can matchup with his size & strength. We'll need him to guard Leon w/o too much fouling, of course, but I'm not going to say that it cannot happen, however unlikely it may be.
I don't like our chances in this game, but we certainly can win. Jakubowski, Knight, and Polk are young talented players that have been pretty inconsistent this year. If they all have a good day on the same afternoon, you never know

Well, we thought it would be a nice gesture to let UT lead the all time series in ONE sport over BG. Lord knows we lead every other sport.
Enjoy.

LOL.
I just read through that and took a look around their board. Cannot blame them for being confident and cocky. Reading through their board really got me thinking. I found azz.com when Dakich left for WVU...it was actually some WVU fans that linked me here when they were discussing Dan.
Since that time BG basketball has always been an afterthought. As good as we were when I was in school, I have yet to ever enjoy a quality season of basketball and discuss it on here. What a shame.
I'm hopeful Orr gets us to that level and we can start having a ton of good basketball threads too! They've got a lot more hoops activity than we have. I know the bowl game might take some away from that, but AFAIC it's hoops season, and we don't have a whole lot of activity on here at all.
Oh yeah, of course I'll be at our HS arena tomorrow to cheer us on to victory against the mighty OU Bobkitties.

Of course for me its THE sport. But unfortunately BG should win this one handily this year. Its at AA and we have only six players- I expect at least a twentfive point BG win. Anything less should be terribly disappointing to BG fans and should be considered an abject failure.

I'll be there too, swallowing every TO , horrible FT shooting, torrid offensive possession and fouling and all. OU is capable of beating us by 40 tomorrow honestly although a little unlikely. A 25pt pt loss is what I would expect after seeing us get beat by 17 by the Dukes who OU is much better than.

If I had that attitude, I'd stay home.
