Anyone heading over to the JAR?

Falcons face another BiG test Sunday evening at 7. The Zips have won 22 straight MAC games in their house and 19 straight home games after sqeaking by Ohio last night, 55-54. I have ESPN U and got to see it and it was a GREAT game. BG definitely can win this game. Last year was fun as BG hung tough but lost 93-87.

I'd like to make sure everyone knows they turn the temps in the JAR up to...oh, say 97 degrees on game days. And watching the game last night...it sounds like they have one of these NBA PSA screamers at mid court. You know, the guy that gets on the mic and starts screaming all sorts of stuff the get the crowd pumped up. Just an advance warning. Last year, they had pyrotechnics going off when the Zips starting 5 was announced. Zippy has gone Hollywood.

If anyone would like to stop by the house before the game, feel free. There's cold Coors Light in the fridge.

I would love to see BG end Akron's streaks....They are a beatable team. The Freaklings and I have Monday off in honor of MLK so we'll be there! I know the NFL playoffs are on...so what. This would be a very BiG win for the Falcons and Coach Orr.

GO FALCONS!!!

Mike,
If it weren't for these D...N crutches (even tho I'm a bit more "mobile" now due to walking cast), I'd love to be there...don't know what the JAR's "handicapped" facilities are like re: ramps vs. steps etc. Then again, I've not talked to Joyce about this either.

Den,

I will stop by next week one day to get the GMAC Bowl shirts to you...what day is best?

As far as the JAR? I don't recall a ramp but I know the steps are not steep and pretty wide to get to the upper level.

As I recall there is an elevator to the second level in one of the stairways. The first floor is at ground level, too, so it should be quite doable if you can make it, Den. Just make sure you don't get your crutches stuck in any roo poo. That could be messy.

They also had the best student cheering section I've seen in the MAC by far. ABout fifty or so came to Toledo- very organized and had several annoying chants. My daughter really got into it with them, standing in front of the section and throwing their chants back at them. She still remembers the "WoahOh-Romeeo" cheer they did for Travis. Whenever he'd miss a shot she'd scream "WoahOh-RomeeNo!" But I did admire their spirit-I'm sure they're even better at home.

Mike,
Any day is usually pretty good, unless I'm out chasing women! Seriously, I have a P.T. appt. at 3:40 on Tues. and another at 11:30am on Friday.... rest of time I should be home.... Joyce usually doesn't get home from work til around 5:30 or so at the earliest. So just give me a call when you've got time to come over. (I'll show you my latest FALCON stuff)...thanks to CHristmas and my wife and stepdaughter. ;-)

:-D

We live about 10 minutes from the JAR....right up 77 into Rt 8. I think we'll be leaving about 6:20 or so. BTW, if you show a AAA card at the gate, you can get a GA ticket for $5. There was a notice in the Akron Beacon Journal today about that. Should make up for the $4 they charge for bottled drinks there. I am going to stuff a couple Coke Zeros in my BG coat.

ZAP THE ZIPS
