Dakich to be Indiana Head Coach??

According to this column, by Pat Forde, if Indiana suspends or eventually fires Kelvin Sampson due to the recent NCAA infractions, Dakich would be the logical replacement since he is the only one on the staff that is clear of the allegations.

Now, if I only remember who I said this to before the season started....

I think that Coach Dakich would be a logical choice. The IU alums are going to want one of their own, and one from the Knight club. Coach Dakich believes in everything that Coach Knight felt was important and believes in. I personally think it would be the best choice next to Steve Alford that they could make.

They won't find anything on Dan... as much of a "character" as he was/could be... he's clean, runs a clean program, and would never bring shame like that to his alma mater. I believe that with all my heart.jutang403 wrote:Yeah, until they find something on him!
Good luck to him. We were talking about this very scenario last night at the EMU game... my guess is that Dan WILL be the next head coach at IU.

It would be great news if Dan did take over the reigns in Bloomington. As bad as we were over the past couple of years, I have nothing but respect for him, and I have no doubt that his system would work well with the right talent. Good luck, Dan!

Now how can we have a thread with Dan's name and not have his good ole buddy Option weigh in?
Dan was always known as being the top recruiter for Knight and that was one of the many things that completely baffled me about his stay at BG. If Dan can find some guys with IU roots who can come in and cash in IU's tradition into recruits, then go for it. I personally believe enough IU alums will see that he wasn't successful at a "lower tier" job and that's basically for his inability to recruit athletic talent.
Illinois is on the rise again, Purdue is a year away, Izzo and Bo Ryan will ALWAYS be tough, Ohio State has another solid class coming and Beilein will figure out how to win in Michigan.
Dan will have his hands full if it does land in his lap.
